In fact, from 2013 to 2016, we performed the largest volume of living and deceased donor kidney transplants in Florida and ranked third largest combined adult and pediatric kidney transplant center in the United States.
Our Pediatric Dialysis Unit, one of the largest in the nation dedicated solely to children, offers kid-friendly care with eight hemodialysis stations, providing over 3,000 treatments annually. Our team ensures each child responds well to treatment and offers essential psychosocial support throughout the process.
For children in need of a kidney transplant, our Pair Donor Exchange Program aims to shorten wait times and improve outcomes through living donor transplants. Additionally, our annual Pediatric Nephrology Seminar, celebrating its 45th year in 2018, serves as a prestigious international platform for exchanging the latest innovations and research findings in pediatric nephrology.
We also support the healthy development of children through our HealthySteps program, the only one in South Florida with developmental and behavioral pediatric specialists on staff.
