Oviedo Medical Center Emergency Room

"My husband was brought to the Oviedo Medical Center ER, via ambulance, on the evening of Sunday, April 21st. The entire staff treated us both with kindness, empathy, professionalism and respect. Dr Yousaf has an amazing bedside manner. We appreciate that he was not only very attentive to my husband, but that he also showed care and respect for his entire team. Our attending nurse, was equally as warm and attentive. I am sorry to say, I am having trouble remembering her name…Gabriella? You’d think I could remember, considering she is such a stellar example of what a trauma nurse should be. One thing that we rarely see in this type of setting is a sense of humor. Much of our time with these exceptional caregivers was spent laughing…even the gentleman who took my husband for a CT scan had us chuckling. Laughter really is the best medicine. My husband and I want to thank the entire staff for changing a very scary situation into a great story we will share often."

"If it's a true emergency, Life or death don't come here. There is never anyone in the front desk. You ring the bell and 10-15 minutes pass still no one. Not sure if it's during certain times but this has happened the 3 times I've brought someone in. However when the patient is finally called back and seen they're great."

"If you want to possibly die or be treated like a piece of garbage then this is your facility. I had a horrible experience here with my mother 6 years ago. I said to myself I would never go there. I ended up coming to this hospital in hopes that perhaps something might have changed due to the growth in Oviedo. Boy was I wrong. I have a history of an un ruptured brain aneurysm of the communicating artery. my Initially I was seen immediately and when I made the Doctor aware of my history the only thing out of her mouth if I suffer from anxiety. I told her I have suffered from anxiety in the past but this was not anxiety. Chief complaint was severe burning sensation down the spine, buzzing and ringing in my ears, dizziness, severe pain behind my neck, liquid coming out of my nose, Nausea and chest pain. I made her aware that I had an appointment with the neurosurgeon on Friday. They placed me in a separate room and this horrible male nurse who was so uncaring and spoke to me in a horrible condescending tone and didn’t even help me on the wheel chair took me to another room. I saw the screen and only lab work was ordered and No CT scans. Tito came in and said they were going to give me atavan and send me home saying it was just anxiety! I was like what! I was shocked. I told him since when is ringing in the ear, burning pain and my other neurological problems anxiety. At this point I said to myself OMG I made a huge mistake coming to this hospital. These doctors have no experience and blame everything on Anxiety. They did the same thing to my mom 6 years back. I was in severe pain and didn’t want to deal with the drama I told Tito I want to leave. I was not safe in that hospital and needed to go somewhere I would get the necessary care. He left the room another rude nurse came in and said you want to leave I said yes, without question concern or ask why I was immediately disconnected from my IV, then all of a sudden I see on the TV screen two orders for CT scans pop up. By that time another nurse came in and said before you leave you need to sign this document saying that we explained the risks of you leaving. I was like that’s a lie, no one has explained anything to me Tito came in told me I’m being treated for anxiety they wanted to give me Atavan and send me home. It wasn’t until after I was about to sign the refusal of treatment that any more orders were added to the screen. Then the registration lady came in and I told her mama I do not feel safe in this hospital and complained and made her aware of what was going on and she called the charge nurse Lana who was very kind. When Lana came The P. A, Grider comes in and I told the nurse what was going on and she convinced me to stay to get my CTA performed. Let me tell you that was my worst mistake.i waited for several hours kept calling the nurse for some pain medication and was completely ignored. Since my arrival I said I was in severe pain and no one did anything. I question greatly the integrity of my scan and the report provided. By that time shift change took place now it was an Indian or Pakistani Doctor who did not explain anything to me. Just provided me with the reports and bloodwork and said follow up with your primary. When I read the reports it said I had absolutely nothing wrong with me, that I had no brain aneurysm. Not even my brain aneurysm mysteriously disappeared. At that time I immediately opened up my Simonmed and advent health portal and showed Lana the nurse and the Indian doctor my actual MRA and CTA films and reports that clearly showed my aneurysms. His exact words to me were “let’s hope it doesn’t explode by the time you see the neurologist” and he sent me home. I had liquid poring out my nose in front of the nurses and doctor and they didn’t care. I told him that the entire time I wasn’t given anything for pain. And asked to please be given something. I have no clue what was injected into me but now I have mysterious flu like symptoms. Went to my Neuro Surgeon and stated all my symptoms were CSF leak and is sending me for proper testing."

"I was in insurmountable abdominal pain when I arrived at your facility, two days after having a prostatectomy. The person at the front desk, very rudely, asked me why I didn't go to the hospital where I had the surgery. They said I would have to fill out the paperwork and wait until my turn comes. After a long wait, screaming in pain in the waiting room, vomiting in a bag that they gave me, I drove to the emergency room at Orlando Health, where they treated me immediately with strong pain medication, ran all required tests and removed my gallbladder on the same day. So I'll never come back here again."
