With a diverse background in both domestic and international healthcare settings, Dr. Mathieson brings a wealth of experience and a compassionate approach to her practice.
Dr. Mathieson earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Boise State University and her Doctor of Optometry degree from The New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. Her extensive training includes externships at a large hospital in southeast China, the Pearl Harbor Navy Clinic, and volunteer missions in Nicaragua. Following her graduation, she completed a residency in ocular disease and primary care at the VA Connecticut Health Care System.
With a passion for forming meaningful relationships with her patients, Dr. Mathieson is committed to helping individuals achieve optimal vision and eye health. Her practice offers comprehensive eye exams, diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, and personalized vision correction solutions.
Beyond her professional commitments, Dr. Mathieson enjoys exploring the great outdoors through travel, camping, and hiking. She and her husband, Ryan, along with their vizsla puppy, Indie, are excited to immerse themselves in the vibrant community of Brewton and the stunning beaches of Northwest Florida.
Dr. Mathieson is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Alabama Optometric Association, continually staying at the forefront of advancements in eye care.
