Dr. Harrell's journey in medicine began after earning his Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University. His commitment to community service was evident early on as he worked as a Community Organizer for Hope Worldwide, Inc. in Nairobi, Kenya, supporting NGOs focused on orphaned children. Before pursuing his medical degree at the University of Florida in 2006, Dr. Harrell enriched young minds as a science teacher at Kanapaha Middle School in Gainesville.
During medical school, Dr. Harrell co-founded the Gainesville Community Ministries Health Clinic, showcasing his dedication to accessible healthcare. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine on the Primary Care track at the University of Kentucky, where he was honored as Medicine Intern of the Year and served as Primary Care Chief Resident.
In 2013, Dr. Harrell became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Health and Medicine. His clinical interests focus on rural medicine and fostering student-run clinics, reflecting his commitment to empowering future healthcare professionals.
