Avis Car Rental

"Terrible service. Didn't have the car we reserved. Vehicle they gave us was filthy inside, including chewed sunflower seeds everywhere and when we returned the vehicle they charged us $130+ for gas even though we refilled it 1 mile from the airport when we returned it. Called customer service right away when I got the bill and they said they would refund the charge. Five days later and still no refund so I called again, and this time customer service said they needed a receipt from me to prove I refilled the vehicle. If the attendant just checked the gauge this would not have been an issue! Use any other car rental service out of this airport (and probably any airport), Avis was terrible from the top down."

"Rented a one way with Avis and got over charged from the agreement was. The agent who helped me at the front desk was very professional and kind. I dropped off the car at the address that was provided but that's the address where you picked up the car. Drop off was totally at a different location/address. I was charged a day and 1 hr. Which was an extra $200. That's mind blowing for the over charge. I tried calling customer service and they could not get me to a supervisor or manager to ask about my charged. Please Avis do better with customer service."

"Book ahead or you will wait at the counter in the airport. If you booked ahead, exit the terminal and walk over to the parking garage. There is the Preferred desk. No display to show your name and pick-up bay and you need to check out n with the agent at that kiosk. He will verify the info / drivers license and hand out the key and off you are. Smaller airport, smaller rental car section but worked out just fine without any issues. 4 stars only, because the surrounding area was just looking like a dump, lots of overfilled trash cans, not appealing."

"I had checked the tread on the tires before I took the car and they were fine. When I got to my destination I noticed that the thread was showing on the inside of one of the front tires so badly that I felt unsafe driving it. I called to see what they could do and was offered 3 options. Option #1 was that I could change the tire myself and drive to the nearest Avis to exchange the car. The nearest Avis was over an hour one-way. Option #2 was that they would send someone to put the spare on for me and then I could drive the hour to the nearest Avis to exchange cars. Option #3 was that they would bring me another vehicle and take mine but they would charge me $300-$700 to do so since there was a spare in the car. I asked if they could have someone drive to in another rental car and bring the car with the bad tire back. I even offered to put the spare on for them. They said that was not an option. Pay $300-$700 for a new car to be brought to me or spend a minimum of 2.5 hours (probably more) away from my family on our vacation."

"I thought with going with Avis I would get better service. We waited close to an hour to get checked in and we were at a very small airport. Once we went outside we waited another 20 minutes for them to bring the car around. I was granted an upgrade but if the car I got was an upgrade I'm not sure I wanted to see the original car. The people at the check in counter were pleasant and the elderly lady that checked us in on return was great. I think next time I will try a different company."
