Welcome to Shubu Kan LLC, a distinguished martial arts dojo located at 25863 State Route 3, Watertown, New York. As a proud member of the United Ryukyu Kempo Alliance (URKA), Shubu Kan is dedicated to fostering a community of martial artists who embody the principles of One Heart, One Mind, and One Spirit. Our dojo is a place where sincere martial artists come together in brotherhood, united by a shared passion for traditional karate and a commitment to promoting all that is good in this ancient art.

At Shubu Kan, we specialize in Ryukyu Kempo Karate, an Okinawan martial art created by Taika Seiyu Oyata and passed down to Allan Amor Kaicho. This comprehensive life protection system emphasizes striking, joint manipulation, and pressure points, while also incorporating traditional Okinawan weapons training, known as Kobudo. Our curriculum includes 11 weapons, and our teachings focus on strengthening the mind, body, and spirit, promoting mental and physical resilience, and cultivating strong moral character.

Founded in June 2018 on Fort Drum, Shubu Kan has grown and evolved, relocating to a larger facility just outside Watertown to better serve the greater community. Our dojo, "The Warriors' School of Life Protection Arts," is led by Schexnayder Renshi, a retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel with extensive experience in martial arts and combatives training. With a Godan Grade (5th Degree Black Belt) in Ryukyu Kempo and a diverse background in Tae Kwon Do, Kuk Sool Won, Boxing, Modern Army Combatives, and Catch Wrestling, Schexnayder Renshi brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our dojo. He is also an American Council on Exercise Certified Personal Trainer.

Assisting in our mission is Schexnayder Sensei, a dedicated school teacher with over 26 years of experience and a rich martial arts background spanning more than two decades. Holding a Nidan Grade (2nd Degree Black Belt) in Ryukyu Kempo and a green belt in Ninjutsu, she embodies the spirit of lifelong learning and dedication to the martial arts.

At Shubu Kan, we believe that Ryukyu Kempo is more than just a martial art; it is a holistic practice that strengthens the mind, body, and spirit. Our focus on life protection (self-defense), character building, respect, discipline, and resilience is at the core of our teachings. Through rigorous practice and adherence to the Dojo Kun, we strive to empower our students to become the best versions of themselves, both on and off the mat.
