Welcome to the Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph, a sacred place of worship located at 5229 South Park Avenue, Hamburg, New York. Our mission is to witness the Gospel through joy, peace, and unwavering commitment to prayer, service, and care for all creation. Inspired by the teachings of St. Clare of Assisi, we strive to follow her path of humility, poverty, and joy in serving God and His people.
St. Clare, co-founder of the Franciscan Order alongside St. Francis, exemplified a life of deep faith and courage. Her legacy continues to inspire us, especially through her remarkable act of bravery in 1224 when she faced an invading army with nothing but the Holy Eucharist and her steadfast trust in God. Her profound spirituality and dedication to prayer are virtues we cherish and emulate.
The Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph, founded by Mother Colette Hilbert, carry forward this tradition of service by teaching, healing, and sharing faith with others. We are dedicated to addressing global concerns and fostering a community grounded in charity and compassion. Our Associate Program offers an opportunity for those who wish to join us in our mission to Pray, Serve, and Care for Creation.
