About the Business

King of Wings Mural

Welcome to King of Wings Mural, a unique tourist attraction located at 853 Jefferson Avenue, Buffalo, New York. This vibrant mural stands as a tribute to John Young, the pioneering chicken wing restaurateur, and his original Mumbo Wings, the first of their kind in Buffalo, NY.

John Young's journey began in Stockton, Alabama, and led him to Buffalo, where he made a lasting impact on the local culinary scene with his Wings N’ Things restaurant. Known for his whole chicken wings dipped in a delectable mumbo sauce, Young's legacy continues to resonate in the community and beyond.

In collaboration with Buffalo Bike Tours and the Young Family, the mural project honors John Young's contributions and his commitment to community improvement. The mural, located at the site of his first restaurant at Jefferson and Carlton, was brought to life by the talented John Baker and the WNY-Urban Arts Collective, with support from the Baird Foundation and Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. Inspired by a painting that once adorned Young's restaurant, this artwork captures the essence of his legacy.

Visitors can not only enjoy the mural but also experience John Young’s iconic mumbo sauce, now available in bottles. This sweet, tangy, and delicious sauce is the original flavor that launched Buffalo's chicken wing phenomenon.

Explore the rich history of Buffalo with insightful travel ideas from our Insiders Guides, and don't miss the chance to embark on a bike adventure with Buffalo Bike Tours.
