About the Business

Old Forge

Welcome to Old Forge: Your Gateway to Adventure!

Located at 3140 New York 28, Old Forge, New York, Old Forge is your premier destination for outdoor excitement and breathtaking natural beauty. Nestled in the heart of the Adirondacks, our business offers unparalleled access to some of the best mountain biking trails in the region.

Mountain Biking at McCauley Mountain

McCauley Mountain is a true mountain biking haven, boasting 15 miles of professionally crafted trails for all skill levels. From thrilling single tracks to technical machine-built flow trails with large berms, rollers, and jumps, there's something for every mountain biking enthusiast. The mountain features a total descent of 2,077 feet, with a vertical drop of over 600 feet, providing an exhilarating ride for both beginners and advanced riders.

Important Trail Access Information

Due to ongoing construction for our new chair lift, mountain biking access is currently limited. Trails on the east side, including Challenger, Rambler, and adjacent trails, are closed. However, you can still enjoy the trails on the west side, particularly the Mac’s Back area and the cross-country Maple Ridge trails. For safety, please adhere to all warning signs and keep pets away from construction zones. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at 315-369-3225. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this period.

Explore More Trails

For those looking to explore further, McCauley’s trails connect to the MTB network at Maple Ridge and additional trails at nearby Nicks Lake. Free parking is available at the base of McCauley, and the trails provide access to the charming village of Old Forge via the Maple Ridge Trail network.

Discover the TOBIE Trail

Enhance your adventure with the TOBIE Trail, a 14-mile recreational pathway that links the Central Adirondack communities of Thendara, Old Forge, Big Moose, Inlet, and Eagle Bay. This non-motorized trail offers cyclists, hikers, cross-country skiers, and snowshoers access to stunning waterfronts, backcountry trails, and local attractions.

Visit us at Old Forge, where adventure awaits, and explore the natural wonders of the Adirondacks. Download our McCauley Mountain Mountain Bike Trail Map and the Maple Ridge Trail Map for more information on planning your visit. We look forward to welcoming you!

"Visited Old Forge during our weekend getaway to Inlet, NY. We stayed at the cottages at Heritage Hollow. Great hot dog at Adirondack Hot Dogs and amazing shopping at all the wonderful shops along the street. We had a fantastic dinner at JH Pizza & Clam Shack in Inlet. Highly recommend visiting the #ADK"
