Located at 1700 Park St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33710, our tours offer an immersive experience at the historic Jungle Prada Site. This unique waterfront location was once a thriving Tocobaga Indian village and is now home to one of the best-preserved American Indian mounds in Florida.
About Our Tours
Our Jungle Prada History Tour takes you on a captivating 75-90 minute journey through time. You'll explore a site that has been a cultural and historical crossroads for over 1,000 years. From the days of the Tocobaga Indians (1,000 C.E. – 1,600 C.E.) to the landing of the Spanish conquistador Pánfilo de Narváez in 1528, this site has seen it all. Learn about Narváez’s ill-fated expedition and the remarkable survival story of Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca and his companions, who trekked over 2,200 miles to the Pacific Ocean.
What to Expect
- Guided Tours: Led by knowledgeable historians, our tours provide deep insights into the area's past.
- Small Group Sizes: To ensure a personalized experience, group sizes are limited, and advance registration is required.
- Scenic Views: Enjoy the beautiful seaside garden and the colorful peacocks that have been residents since the 1950s.

Tours are available Wednesday through Sunday, with times and availability varying by season. Please call us at 727-430-2677 to check for tour availability this week. We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes before your tour starts.
Special Events and Partnerships
Discover Florida Tours also partners with the Gulfport Historical Society to host The Original Gulfport Walking Tour every 3rd Thursday of the month at 5:30 PM. This tour begins at the Gulfport History Museum (5301 28th Ave. S., Gulfport, FL 33707).

"Amazing tour, absolutely loved it, one of the best tour guides I’ve ever listened to. David had an excellent, fun vibe full of knowledge and history with twist. We enjoyed the shaded tour especially for Florida, beautiful Peacocks and water view. Felt Blessed being there. After we walked a stones throw to the Tavern for a great dinner, walked on the pier and then got a homemade ice cream while listening to Island music to end the day all in the same place. If we stayed a little later could have seen a great sunset although that day got a little cloudy in the evening so headed home. Definitely would go again it was a great family day."

"This was an exceptional tour full of Floridian history, Native American history, plant information and plenty of peacocks to photograph. Our tour guide/owner David is full of extremely interesting information and even my 6 and 9 year old were engaged and quiet the whole tour which rarely happens. I told my father in law, this is a tour I could have taken multiple times because it had so much information and history to learn. Unfortunately we are from out of state, so that probably can’t happen. However, this is probably one our favorite things we did while visiting Florida. Thank you again for an exceptional tour!!
