"I am a veteran age 65 with severe low back lumbar pain at L4 and L5 S1. The VA only allows two epidural spine shots a year, once every 6 months. There are 52 weeks in a year and for 46 weeks I am in pain. I have been in pain since 2009. Only these last few years has the VA allowed for these pain shots. It is no exaggeration when I say that my life experience is mostly experienced in pain. I walk like an old Korean rice farmer. I was stationed in South Korea I know how an old Papasan Korean rice farmer walks. Picture an elderly man with a walking cane bent forward taking one step at a time very slowly. That describes me. There are days when I truly and seriously am concerned that I am taking my last steps as the pain is that intense. I deeply dread these epidural spine shots. They hurt as they go deep into the spine and release the medication. On two different occasions in two different facilities and with two different doctors I had to scream for them to pause the injection as the pain was so intense. One doctor explained that the injection site was tricky and hard to get to. At the other facility the other doctor made four attempts each time very painful and I had to scream at him to stop and he refused to stop until he reached the injection site and then he mocked me and asked did I want him to stop now. My experience with Dr Kneeland, today, was wildly and dramatically different in that the process was completely painless. He counts down 1-2-3 and then injects lidocaine to numb the injection area before going deeper to the injection site. I felt a pinch of a needle but he does it so fast it hardly has time to register and the area is numbed and the larger needle is used and the only thing I felt was the pressure of the medication entering the injection area. I never felt any pain," my hand to God!" Sometimes at the end of the procedure I feel a quick sharp jolt of electricity down my right leg and this injection was no different it is sudden and there's no time to prepare for it but it was not painful at all. My hand to God, this was an amazing experience. I will not be anxious when I visit again in 6 months."

I've had 3 surgeries on the same shoulder and looking at a 4th!! They're not helping, in fact they want to decrease my meds, which are nothing!!!
