Dr.Hale

"During my custody battle it was advised that we do a "custody evaluation" with Dr. Valerie Hale. The first thing my attorney said to me is to "slide her extra some cash if I wanted her to to speak well on my behalf". I thought she was kidding. She wasn't. Dr. Hale was unorganized, unprofessional and unethical. Her billing was ridiculously innaccurate. Her letters concerning her billing issues were also ridiculously innaccurate. Oddly enough, she couldn't be reached when it came time to figure out the problem, nor would she return any phone calls concerning the matter but she still put her ridiculously innaccurate letters to the court. But hey, my ex did "slide her a bit of extra cash". $3,500 was paid for a trial report that she never wrote, despite it being apart of the process outlined in her own initial contract and it also being apart of the custody court proceedings. Let that sink in- she never wrote it. She also changed her testimony from the settlement conference to the hearing. Without the trial report there was nothing to hold her to, but she was well aware of that. (I wonder how many times she's pulled that stunt?) I was warned early on about her "God complex" and after my time of dealing with her I can honestly say that description fits her personality like a glove. I would also like to add that I think she is extremely manipulative, malicious and vindictive. I've seen her in action and discussed her in depth with many of her colleagues. This is NOT someone you want around your family and especially not around your kids so please do yourself a favor and choose someone else- anyone else!"

"My verbally abusive ex-husband sued for custody of our children and hired Val Hale. At my first interview before I even sat down she said “Is he always such a narcissist?,” and went on at length criticizing him harshly. I thought this was an odd thing to do, so I wasn’t surprised later to find she’d done the same thing with him – gone on about me. I didn’t say anything about Dr. Hale’s comments to my children but my ex did, telling them that this professional had diagnosed me as crazy beyond belief and an evil person. She’d given a professional endorsement to his verbal abuse. This caused a great deal of damage to my children and to my relationship with them. It’s been seven years and the children have figured things out. My relationships with them are hardly tainted anymore by the things Val Hale and Dad said – I’m not “crazy and evil” anymore. But it’s seven years later, and a lot of pain for my children and myself. There were many sketchy things about the way she conducted the evaluation, and some of the conclusions that she presented to the court are verifiably false and indicate that she left out/ ignored hard evidence and input from other professional counselors – but these did insignificant damage compared to helping Dad convince the kids their Mom was crazy, stupid, and evil. I’d like to leave this in the past, but hope that by writing this review Dr. Hale can be prevented from damaging other families."
