"I am a Doctor of Physical therapy and I worked directly with Dr. Rullo at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. We worked together in several capacities including; patient care, mentoring and research collaboration. Dr. Rullo is an extremely skilled psychologist specializing in sex therapy and couples counseling. I was able to work directly with her for return to sexual activity for indications such as; cancer treatment, vaginismus, PTSD, dysparuenia, menopause, transgender health and a variety of other conditions. What I most enjoyed about this experience was her ability to identify patient goals, tailor her treatment strategies to meet their needs, while also collaborating with me regarding what I wanted to achieve in the physical therapy sessions. When discussing various cases she was always timely in her responses, had excellent and easy to read documentation, and was open to feedback. In addition to working with her on patient care I had the opportunity to be mentored by her. This interaction has been hands down the most pivotal experience of my entire career as a Doctor of Physical Therapy. She provided me with many learning opportunities including; sharing various evidence based articles, corner stone books regarding sexual health and functioning, introducing me to leaders in her field that I could learn from. Additionally I attended many of her lectures and learning sessions which offered tools and treatment strategies I could use clinically with patients. As a result of my time with Jordan my patients receive excellent and empathetic treatment that is within the physical therapy scope of care. Lastly, and this has been mentioned throughout, Dr. Rullo has authored many peer-reviewed articles and continues to be a research collaborator within the sexual health field. I had the opportunity to write several papers with her. She again was professional, timely, and helped to guide me through the process as this was a first for me. Wrapping things up -Dr. Rullo is an excellent clinician. -She should be sought out for professional mentoring by not only Physiologists but also Physicians, Nurses and Physical Therapists. -Dr. Rullo is a highly skilled researcher, writer and presenter.
