"Hiked Kanarra Falls on March 10th 2024. Made it all the way to the end which is the upper falls. For this time of year I feel that I had the minimum gear required to complete this. It was an amazing hike no doubt. But the water had to be 20 degrees. I had non waterproof hiking shoes and regular socks. Most of the time i could jump rock to rock and stay clear of the water but before getting to the ladder you’ll run out of rock real estate to save your feet from the flowing ice. There is even a spot before the very end where you are forced into knee high eddies. My feet were in serious pain and went numb after reaching the end. Luckily I had two extra pair of socks for the return trip and the ultimate saving grace was a medium sized towel which I used to dry my shoes as there was no sun getting into the slots then. I would certainly suggest either A) Wear waterproof shoes AND socks or B) After the ladder it opens up a bit into waterfalls and big rock slabs, once you reach this point turn back if your gear is sub par All in all one of the best hikes of my life"
"This hike and the falls are way over-rated. The falls are maybe 20 feet tall at best. The views along the hike are nice at times, but nothing more than a lot of places Utah has to offer, and certainly not as good as other nearby attractions. A big reason why this is 2 stars is because the fee is $15/person (!!!!). I've hiked better falls in Utah without a fee. You are better off spending your tine and money at Zion, Kolob, Quail Creek, Sand Hollow, Cedar Breaks--the list goes on. Depending on your group size, your fee for this hike would put you well on your way to paying for a national park annual pass."
"Absolutely gorgeous! First time visiting Utah and we specifically went for the Falls. I wish we would have had longer to stay and explore more of the parks but our hiking experience was definitely worth the trip! I’m glad I read the FAQ’s before going and so glad we took hiking poles and wore rain/mud boots! You are definitely getting wet if you do this hike so I highly recommend them and a walking stick of some sort! The trail itself can be challenging in some areas and be prepared to climb in some spots."
"Not the best hike I’ve ever done but it’s a fun and unique one. Short enough that kids can enjoy it but challenging enough adults will like it was well. Bring hiking sandals or water shoes cause you will need to walk in the stream multiple times. Pretty views, water is cold, and the slot canyon makes it fun to explore. A few small waterfalls along the way. Enjoy!"
"Fantastic hike. Trails are well-maintained and the views are spectacular. We found the river portions completely manageable and easy to navigate. The ladder was easy to climb and the boulder was not an issue at all. Water was ankle-deep for the most part but knee-deep in just a couple of areas. Wear neoprene socks with hiking shoes or water shoes and your feet will stay somewhat warm. Water was 50° on October 5. A moderate hike at best. I wouldn’t say it was difficult. Making reservations was easy and staff at check-in was friendly."
