"My family came into town to rent skis. They did not appropriately adjust the bindings on the skis they gave my sister in law- boot would not snap in. This is so basic and isn’t acceptable that both bindings weren’t adjusted appropriately. Didn’t realize until we were at the ski resort. I will not have my family rent from here the next time. Go to an actually good shop that will set the bindings appropriately on both skis. Edit: The manager replied to my review and did offer a refund. They will talk to staff to hopefully prevent recurrence for future renters"
"Nick O. Was absolutely incredible!!! I dropped my bike off hoping for it to get done right away and no surprise, they had many tune ups before mine. Nick O. got my bike back wayyyyy before I expected and did an incredible job. I tried taking it to a different shop and they quoted me $175. (Here was $40.) So grateful I made the extra drive to take it here, I trust them, they care about their customers and they do a good job."
"I've been renting stuff from Outdoors Unlimited since I was a kid and figured it was about time I wrote a review. I went down a rabbit hole and read most of the other reviews and honestly, most of the bad reviews made me laugh. Here's my quick thoughts: -I have loved BYU Outdoors Unlimited. I have been able to do outdoor activities that I otherwise never would have been able to afford. (Downhill Skiing, Backcountry Skiing, Mountain Biking, Different Tents and sleeping equipment, games for my FHE group and even rafts for group trips down to moab.) I have loved how accessible the equipment is for someone without a million dollars. They seem to do a good job of making sure their equipment is in good shape. (Obviously there are things that break or are older but that's the same with gear I would buy lol) They test everything before it leaves the store and I also do to so I know I won't have any problems. (Obviously they can't control a flat tire on a bike or me crashing it lol. Oops.) -Lots of people seem to complain about the workers but I have never had that experience when I have been there. They have always been super nice to me, and when its busy they still do a good job of managing all their responsibilities and being approachable and nice. I totally get why they would be stressed when half of Utah County is in the store trying to rent skis during the winter or get paddleboards during the summer. (Especially when I've been behind some people in line who are not exactly what you would call nice or friendly to the workers. I've seen some people be pretty nasty to some poor college student who's trying to do their best. It's not their fault they ran out of skis Karen. Go buy your own set of skis if you are so upset that other people have the same idea as you to rent skis on a Saturday. You don't have to rip into a college kid lol. You're better than that.) -I think their return policy is totally valid, and a lot of the reviews complained about returning late. They have to draw the line somewhere right? If you rent a car and return it late then they make you pay but some people are up in arms in the reviews about getting charged a late fee. I found the life hack where if you rent on a Saturday in the morning then you don't have to bring back the stuff until Monday at 5-and its still just a 1 DAY RENTAL! I'm not complaining in the slightest. (I totally understand the reviews that say they got charged if they were 10 minutes late but as far as I can tell the management sorted that out in the comments. They have to establish a policy and keep it or people will just keep pushing it and complaining. I just make sure to give myself a time buffer to make sure I get everything back.) Overall, I really like Outdoors Unlimited and they will have my business for years to come. You can't beat their pricing, hours and overall shear quantity of activities you can rent for. Thanks for what you do guys! I'm really grateful for what you do!"
"TANDEM BIKE RENTAL REVIEW>>>(Edited for clarity and down to one star instead of two: though they sound accommodating; there's something untrustworthy here--why did they feel a need to make fun of me? I doubt they take improving the experience seriously if they don't take me seriously.) When we arrived we had to wait for a very long time because they don't have enough tandem bikes for how many people are using them. We weren't warned that there would be no padding provided (and trust me you're going to need them). They provided a map of places without warning that some of them aren't tandem bike friendly. These aren't off-road bikes, and they will distract drivers on the main road. This isn't a great way to work closely with someone, there's nothing romantic about this (now if it were a banana seat where you could share the seat...maybe). How it works is the person in front has control and all the responsiblity to warn the person in back about bumps and turns and sudden stops, and the person in the back just has to deal with it and doesn't really contribute to the ride (perhaps they just reduce pedalling power?). Whoever is in the back is going to need to be fine with all the mistakes the person in the front makes. Maybe some people find that romantic, but I couldn't wait to be done. Since I didn't have padding and we were right next to the river and needing to deal with a broken sidewalk, I was very injured during and after the ride."
"Mostly, I like Outdoors Unlimited. They have a policy of returning items by 5:00 and if you are late, they charge you another day's rental. I had 3 mountain bikes to return and I got there at 5:10 pm. They were going to charge me an additional $180. That is infuriating. "Company policy" is what they quoted me. They did knock down the ridiculous late fee down by half. But, I do not think I will rent from here again because of that. I'm ok with a late fee but put a cap on it or be a little understanding. The employees are nice but not very bendable. Make no mistake: I understand that I was 10 minutes late. But that kind of late fee does not fit the crime. Even by half."
