About the Business

Memory Grove Park

Memory Grove Park, located at 300 North Canyon Road in Salt Lake City, Utah, is a historical park and tourist attraction with a rich and meaningful past. Established in response to the issues of urbanization in the early 1900s, the park was officially designated as a memorial to America's fallen military men in 1924. The park features several memorials, including the Pagoda, Harbor of Beauty, footbridge, and granite shaft erected by the 145th Field Artillery.

One of the most striking features of the park is the Meditation Chapel, built in 1948 as a memorial to Utah sons who died in World War II. Made of Georgian marble with a copper roof and sculpted bronze doors, the chapel resembles a Greek temple and serves as a beautiful tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Surrounding the chapel are markers holding the names of men whose bodies were never recovered from the war.

Memory Grove Park is a serene and picturesque place where visitors can reflect on the sacrifices made by those who served their country. The park's lush greenery, tranquil ponds, and historical monuments make it a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists alike.

"This memorial is absolutely beautiful. It's a great place to check out on a Sunday. It's just a short hike down from the capitol building. You can walk your dog, have a picnic by the pond, enjoy the scenery, and read the history. When you're finished you can head up and check out the Capitol Building (has restrooms)."

"I came in from out of state and was looking for a nice dog friendly park to go walk at. I was super impressed with this place. The walk is beautiful. Not very busy during the week which is great."

"Memory Grove park is like veterans park but on a big hype. Its has a creek and path to walk. It has the look and has that silent praise that every where u look it reminds you of a solder or a solders family."

"Great place to take your dog off leash and let them get a bit dirty! A well kept park, good enough to lay down a blanket and feel clean. It even has a small off leash hiking trail at the end, easy enough to wear regular shoes, but turn around when the trail gets dicey. Love this place"

"Not a ton of parking which is a pain. It’s mostly uphill and the trail to the right of the creek isn’t stroller or rollerblade friendly. Lovely park some shade which is nice. There are bathrooms as well. I love the large trees which have almost a California vibe. Many dogs."
