About the Business

Liberty Park

Liberty Park, located at 600 Harvey Milk Boulevard in Salt Lake City, Utah, is the city's oldest and second-largest park. Originally a grist mill and farm, the park has a rich history dating back to the 1850s. The Isaac Chase Mill, the oldest commercial building in Utah, still stands in the park's northeast corner. Brigham Young, who acquired the farm in 1860, planted various trees and left the land to the city for public enjoyment.

Today, Liberty Park boasts a variety of features including shade trees, flowers, lakes, playgrounds, tennis courts, and the Tracy Aviary, the largest free-standing aviary in the United States. The park has been a popular spot for residents for nearly 140 years, offering a tranquil natural space for relaxation and recreation. Whether you're looking to explore the park's history, enjoy a picnic, or simply take a leisurely stroll, Liberty Park has something for everyone to enjoy.

"Title: Liberty Park: Urban Haven with a Hint of Reality Liberty Park in Salt Lake City is a serene haven amidst the urban hustle. With its sprawling green spaces and recreational facilities, it's an ideal spot for relaxation and outdoor activities. Although it's worth noting that some homeless individuals frequent the park, the overall atmosphere remains welcoming and inclusive. Whether you're strolling along its scenic pathways or enjoying its cultural attractions, Liberty Park offers something for everyone."

"Best city park. Hundreds of mature trees, tons of shade, duck pond, aviary, different types of walking surfaces, hill sledding in the winter for kids, and even adults can swing on the swingsets and watch the world go by."

"Really nice neighborhood park with lots of amenities and a nice paved loop trail. Clean. You can find families sledding on the hill in the park on a snowy day and tons of joggers and owners with their dogs at all hours everyday. Well trafficked park. There is also a section of the park where you will see people with all of their dogs playing. I wish there were more trash cans throughout the park but all in all the park is really nice."

"There are 2 playgrounds next to each other. One is for smaller children. Encourages music with xylophones, metal drum, and large chime pipes to play, also a couple of playhouses. Sometimes a kid train that drives around the area for a small fee. Very family oriented. Lots of flower gardens to walk along."

"Really love this park. Grew up going here... will say however that as a kid I could have wandered all over safely and its not the same anymore. Wish it was still family friendly.. and most days it is.. except Sundays. Anyone who goes on Sunday knows what I mean by not wanting to bring your kiddos around. ✌️ Overall a beautiful park! Lots of nostalgia for me. Hippies peeps need to check out drum on Sunday too if you're looking for a community to join."
