"It was a long hard winter for me in my relationship with my wife after 27 years. We weren’t sure how to deal with main events in our lives and often swept the unpleasant interaction with each other under the rug until it became too much for us. "I come from an upbringing where things like talking about feelings and therapy were stigmatized and although there have been several times in my life where I would have truly benefitted from therapy I've never been able to get myself to do it. In the fall of 2021 my now ex-wife initiated divorce and I had to do something for myself. Joanna was the most responsive therapist of a small group that I contacted and got me in to see her with some urgency. Joanna was very communicative about the 'onboarding' process with her and gave me some steps to follow and I was in to see her later that day. I did individual therapy with Joanna working through the divorce process and some prior trauma in my father's sudden passing in 2020. The only regret that I have in all of this is that I didn't start the process a decade sooner. I feel the whole thing has made me much more self-aware and more able to love and forgive myself. In working with Joanna through my divorce she was a fantastic advocate for me when I REALLY needed one. Divorce is a very lonely process and the affirmation and level-headed guidance she provided me with in looking at things from angles I had not thought of were a huge help in the whole process. I know for a fact I would not have advocated for myself near as hard without Joanna's affirmation and perspective on things as a neutral third party I would've given up WAY more than I would've been comfortable with and I would have had regrets for decades to come. Working with Joanna helped me to dig into things about my upbringing that led to an unhealthy loop in many aspects of my life, helped me to connect dots on things that I had never been able to connect on my own despite running at problems over and over for 15+ years. Joanna's work with me helped to start to defeat those loops and move to new heights in life moving forward and I feel as optimistic and hopeful about the future as I have felt in a LONG time. If you're even considering therapy I would highly recommend Joanna. If you're considering it for the first time in your life DO IT! Joanna makes the process very inviting and unintimidating, I am SO glad to have done it and will definitely look to use Joanna again in the future should the need arise."
