"I really liked Dr. D'ambrosia for the majority of my pregnancy. Despite the fact that she works at a large practice with many other physicians, I always felt she personally cared about my well being. The point at which this stopped was near the end of my pregnancy. I was about a month away from my due date and had a very stressful job and the normal end-of-pregnancy symptoms (shortness of breath, heart palpitations, dizziness, losing train of thought, etc.) were making it harder and harder to do my job, to the point I thought they might fire me. I couldn't take maternity leave more than 2 weeks out from my due date unless there was a "medical reason." I was stressed about all of this and that made things even worse as I'm prone to anxiety attacks. I made a point of bringing this up at every appointment thereafter. Dr. D'ambrosia simply told me repeatedly that she could not falsify records to get me out of work earlier and, essentially, that I would just have to deal with it. I at no point suggested she falsify records. I left those appointments in tears. And looking back now I realize I needed to speak with a psychiatrist, not my OBGYN. But part of her duties as my doctor are to be on the look out for issues she can't handle and refer me to someone who can. I was near a mental break (which could have been detrimental to myself and my baby) and all she was worried about was "falsifying records" which, again, was not what I was asking her about. I felt overwhelmed, overlooked, and unseen/ unimportant. Maybe she was having "off" days but that severely impacted my pregnancy experience and my memories are tarnished with stress and anxiety now, when medical assistance for management of these things could've easily prevented that. **I would like to add that I WOULD recommend her. She is kind and even tempered. I would just advise that you pay close attention to your own psychological well-being and be your own best advocate. Don't shut down or stop asking questions just because one doctor disregards your feelings/ thoughts when you KNOW something is wrong."
