"being from Denver you know that there's a ton of great restaurants & places to get food. however, there's not a ton of places to get good soul food & especially with food that taste like a home cooked meal. After wanting something new to eat & dope place to experience I visited Mattie's on a Saturday with bae, came highly recommended as her spot lol ... upon entering Mattie's instantly feels like home or a place you've been to many times before. For starters I ordered the Pineapple & Vodka she ordered the Mattie's Special ... For our meal she ordered the honey hot catfish, smothered pork chop over rice, collard greens & mac n cheese.. I ordered the smothered pork chop over rice, Mattie's smoked hot wings, fried okra & mac n cheese with the red beans n rice... orange soda & water of course... I rank Mattie's a definite 10/10 & a place you must try... it's also seems like an amazing place to host an event if your grown as they also offer that service. i can't wait to return to Mattie's sooner than later. "The Catfish was absolutely delicious, probably the best Catfish I had so far. The green beans with smoked turkey had a kick to it, no pieces of meat, and big pieces of onions. The candied yams and Cornbread was not my favorite. I wouldn't recommend and try the yams or Cornbread again. I will however, try a different side next time. The macaroni and cheese was dry. The pork chops were good but also had a little kick. If you go at least an hr and a half before closing, chances are you won't get everything you went there for."

"Oh man, do not sleep on this place. We went on a Sunday evening and tried the neck bones, wings, Mac and cheese, cheesy potatoes, greens, red beans and rice and onion rings. The neck bones and the red beans and rice are next level good and the corn bread was so buttery and delicious. Honestly there wasn't a bad bite of food. We also had the special house cocktail which was sweet and fruity and delicious. Check the hours before you go and come with a big appetite, we both brought at least half of our meal home and now I can look forward to having it tomorrow!"

"I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mattie's Soul Food and I have to say, it was an absolutely stunning experience. The food was not only delicious, but it was also of stellar quality. The flavors were bold and authentic, and each dish was prepared to perfection. The environment was cozy and inviting, and the service was outstanding. The portions were generous, and it was clear that only the freshest and highest-quality ingredients had been used. The collard greens were cooked with precision and was profoundly savory, and the mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. The catfish and shrimp were cooked to perfection, the flavors were so fresh, it was like the seafood was caught that morning. The desserts were also amazing, the sweet potato pie was the perfect balance of sweet and savory, and the banana pudding was rich and satisfying. It was clear that the chef at Mattie's Soul Food takes great pride in their craft and it truly shows in the quality of the food." The staff was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was truly amazing. To top it all off, the prices were incredibly reasonable, making it a great value for the quality of food and service received. I highly recommend Mattie's Soul Food to anyone looking for a taste of authentic southern cuisine, and am already looking forward to my next visit."

"The food was okay. I got fried catfish, candied yams and greens. Some parts of the yams were cold still and the greens was decent. The mac and cheese did not resemble soul food, as it was one of those regular liquidy mac and cheese topped with shredded cheese. I enjoyed the catfish. For the smothered chicken, it smelled like it was sitting in the fridge for quite a bit- like leftovers. Coming from the south, my family and I were overall disappointed in the quality of food. We were on a search for a soul food restaurant in Denver, and I wish I could say this was better than expected but unfortunately it was below standards."
