"Will not be returning to this location. First, managers dressed down a new employee in front of customers for making a mistake with a coupon (not mine). He was apologetic and sincere and kept getting chewed out and threatened. Then, when my services were being reviewed the manager completely disrespected me, talked over me, and wouldn’t even give me a price on replacing my air filter because I wasn’t interested in doing the 30 other services she wanted me to do. They ended up just throwing away my old one and leaving the car without one, which I will now have to go to another oil company to replace. Tremendously upsetting experience- never again. I’ve had good luck with Ankeny but will not be returning to Ames."

"LOF is professional, friendly, courteous, and gets the job done quickly. I needed a last-minute oil change before heading out of town, and it was a relief to know I could get it done in under 20 minutes without an appointment and without having to leave my car there for a whole day. While sitting there, I grew thirsty, so it was a bonus when they offered me coffee, hot chocolate, or water! I like my regular mechanic a lot, but when it comes to quick and easy, LOF has this down to an art."

"“Overpriced” is the easiest way to describe LOF. The staff is professional and knowledgeable, but then you get charged $125 for a basic conventional oil change on a little 1.8L and the taste of satisfaction turns to ash in your mouth. I’d expect that cost for work on a BMW M series or Porsche using high end synthetic, not for the working man in a “regular” car. At least they tell you how to reset the oil change light yourself when the job is complete. Jiffy charges $35 to change your oil but they won’t turn the light off. Maybe that’s what the $90 extra is paying for."

"Absolutely awful experience. I will never go back. They told me they couldn’t get my oil plug off, okay understandable no big deal. However, they used the wrong sized socket and rounded off my oil plug. From there, it appeared they had tried to use vice grips or a wrench and completely messed it up. When I took my car to Nissan a couple days later, they had to chisel my oil plug out due to the damage caused by LOF employees. To top it off, the LOF employees also left my car window down in a steady downpour after I had told them I would be waiting for a friend, before leaving. The whole drivers side interior was soaked and a there was a puddle on my floor boards. If you value your car, DO NOT do business here."
