Reviews
"You need to get kayak and permit to bird island. It’s very nice place with strong waves for surfing. You can easily spot some monk seal laying around at the little beach area, just don’t get too close to them because they hate being bothered"
"This is our home! Kayak here on a sunny day, go for a snorkel and pack a lunch. We rent kayaks within walking distance of the launch area. Permits are required by the state and available at our shop. This is a wildlife sanctuary so be respectful, travel in small groups, pack your trash and keep distance from marine mammals."
"A W E S O M E. Bring some boards out and get ready to mellow out on these little pieces of paradise. There's a little underwater cave with a beach inside that is totally worth getting into!! Looks scarier than it actually is, just keep your hands up and watch your head. Make sure to leave it cleaner than when you first got there!"
"One of the two islands you can land on, this island is a bird sanctuary...so part of it is accessible. You can kayak out from the beach, spend some time on this island, and then head back...a good 5-6 hour adventure. It's an awesome spot to recharge and take is the ocean, wildlife, and surrounding views."
"It's so much fun to kayak out here! It took about 2 hours to paddle here from Kailua Beach, and less time to go back. We went in December, so there weren't any sea birds nesting at the time. There's a small "trail" that goes part of the way around the island. I'd definitely kayak back to the Mokes again"
