Reviews
"Get up early and watch the sun rise. Good for tanning. Not good for swimming due to the rocks. It's on a military base, so you habe to have an ID card to get in."
"I just had a delightful walk from the uppermost point to the very bottom and back. It was lovely! I saw all sorts of birds, driftwood, seeds, and even some crabs. There weren’t very many people, perhaps ten in the hour I was there. It’s a great beach for wading, sunbathing and taking in the breathtaking views. It’s not the best for swimming."
"This is located on the Marine Corp base, so a DoD ID is required to visit. There is always plenty of parking with several lots right next to the beach. It's too rocky for swimming. It's more for laying in the sun, playing in the sand, or a nice walk. My favorite part is the rocky area on the far left side. There's a path through the rocks & you can find a lot of wildlife. The only downside is the trash & the smell, which can sometimes be a little too stinky for enjoyment."
"Fort shade beach is one of the most enjoyable spots to relax on MCBH. Nice sandy beaches if you are inclined to sit in the sand. Even on a Sunday afternoon I was able to park six feet away from the sand. On the east end of the base there is a small stretch of beach somewhat protected by reef structure even at high tide. Very very little shade is the only draw back."
"Small, pretty beach. Able to have a bonfire on the beach- just bring your own wood. Gorgeous views. Not really a swimming beach, more of a wading/enjoy the view spot. Grills are available here too."
