"Waited on hold for over 45 minutes to resolve an issue & the guy that I was speaking with named CRIS hung up on me! How incompetent & RUDE!"

"Worst healthcare company out there!!! Haven’t got my reimbursement for contacts three years in a row! They canceled my flex card because they needed documentation from my dentist. They never shared this information with me. Just canceled it without letting me know they needed documentation for the dentist. Should change their industry name to NO CARE. Swindled thousands of dollars with unfair reimbursement methods and now will probably take the money on my flex card since I can’t access it. Class action coming, this is flat out robbery!"

"I have had Blue Cross Blue Shield for just over 10 years now. Every single time I call, I speak with someone in Reno, NV. I've always had the absolute BEST service from these folks. The people who answer the phone have no control over what benefits my employer decided to pay for, but they do a great job looking into my account and knowing what coverage I have. In fact, they know my coverage inside and out, which can't be easy with all the different plans available. One noteworthy experience is when the rep on the phone saved me literally THOUSANDS of dollars. I had a surgery and while I was under general anesthesia, the doctors used a newer type of suture alternative. It was not covered by insurance because it was too new. The doctor's billing department tried to make me pay it out of pocket, stating I signed paperwork saying I would pay what insurance didn't cover. Of course, I signed it because I was expecting to pay a COPAY, not thousands for a new technology. Anyway, the rep on the phone knew that what the doctor's office was doing was not legal. They sent my claim to the legal department at Blue Cross Blue Shield and the legal department reached out to the doctor's billing department to let them know that I had been advised that they cannot legally force me to pay for something like this unless they quote the cost to me, in advance. It's called "Surprise Billing" and they were hoping I didn't know any better and paid it. In fact, they said they put me in collections over it until Blue Cross Blue Shield intervened. Awesome! I honestly don't think you can find better insurance out there, especially for this price! Blue Cross Blue Shield rocks!! And all the folks at the call center in Reno, NV are always so helpful and cheerful. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!!!"

"The customer support on the phone is the worst I’ve ever encountered. First the robot that couldn’t understand anything I was saying had me approve my name birthday and member number, and I had to repeat them several times. Finally got to a real person and they wanted me to repeat all of the same information too!!! It was obnoxious. I had one question. I asked it and no one could answer it cuz apparently it was too hard of a question. They kept transferring me to different areas. Finally I was on hold for so long that it just completely disconnected my call. I gave up. I wish I didn’t have this stupid insurance!"

"Terrible, terrible, terrible business practice. Its been 4 months, multiple calls (at least 5x) trying to get my medical bills paid and no luck. I have taken time out of work to get on the phone and tried to get this resolved. THEY WILL NOT PAY MY MEDICAL BILLS. My medical insurance is paid through my employer and in good standing. Is this FRAUD?? I pay my medical insurance but they wont pay my medical bills??? Now I am getting collection notices."
