While our driver went back to rescue the other driver and passengers that had been stranded in the rain, he left us in the care of the shop owner, who proceeded to sell us his wares. My mother bought a larger spray bottle of the golden-capped plumeria perfume as well as a tiny sample size bottle she intended for me when I was about thirteen. The powerful yet sweet floral scent appealed to my middle school sensibilities then, and I always remember Maui and that store when I smell it."
