"Just like most schools in vegas, they don't really care about your child's education. They are constantly marking my child absent when he is not. Then when you try to resolve the issue they tell you it's your child's responsibility to reach out to their teacher to fix their attendance problems. These are children being told to make sure their teachers are doing their job correctly. No way to get in contact with teachers unless you interrupt class time. Not to mention they don't even have real class on Mondays and Fridays. Those days are reserved for make up work which is 2 days out the week he isn't being taught anything. I will be removing my child after this year. Do better NVLA!!!"
"My son attended for 4th and 5th Grade. I absolutely loved the personalized love and attention and teaching he received. I did switch schools last year because he recevied such a phenominal boost of confidence that I felt he could take on imperson learning at a different charter school. but right now I am calling to find out when I can enroll him back for next year! Go Innovators! Your teachers were the Best... We miss you! My son deeply missed his 4th grade teacher and cried for weeks. That says something deep!!"
"Love this school. The teachers are excellent and always ready to help. I highly recommend them for homeschool. God Bless. John 3:16"
"We could not be more disappointed with our experience with this school. My son has been a consistent honor roll student since kindergarten. It took just 4 weeks for this school to aid in breaking his streak. The first two weeks, there were so many technical issues that he could not even attend his classes or orientation. One of his initial ELA teachers was so incredibly rude and obnoxious I had to call the school to have him switched. Thankfully the counselor was receptive and moved him right away. In fact, in the beginning there were teachers that were helpful and we had very high hopes. They changed my son’s schedule without notice. He was in accelerated classes which tend to move much faster and pile on the work. (Even though the curriculum isn’t advanced, it’s just increased quantity.. which is not helping him learn BETTER, just teaches him how to be stressed out.) However, due to him literally being weeks behind to start because of THEIR technical issues, many of the teachers were unforgiving and literally would not allow him to try and catch up. He spent hours on lessons and had to beg the teachers to even allow him to turn them in for a grade. Meanwhile, he’s so overwhelmed he is falling more and more behind as they relentlessly locked him out of his lessons and refuse his efforts. I have in writing where 2 of his teachers told him they just plain refuse to grade anything he turns in that may be passed their lockout date. This kid was going to bed with a stomach ache every night. I reached out to the teachers myself trying to explain what was going on. The responses were “you just need to forget about those two weeks and move on”. All the while they are still blocking him from catching up and those missing assignments that are pulling his grade way down. So, how COULD we forget?? I wrote emails saying that my child needed help and that he was drowning, and all I got were notes like “Your student needs to work on his time management”. Are you kidding me?! I could never get anyone from administration to answer my voicemails. I left many. Also, they were marking him absent when he was attending classes every day. I know he was because I was right there. I could hear his teachers talking to him. We were shocked when we saw they marked him absent 17 times! My son has not missed that many days or classes over the entire course of his scholastic career! I wrote to the attendance office, as per their instructions and of course.. no response and no correction. Everyday I felt like I had to go to battle for my son. Who is a GREAT student and cares so much about his success and pleasing his teachers. After weeks of this the last straw was an email from one of his teachers suddenly telling me they were in charge of my son’s progress and was just now checking in with me, noticing that he was having some “challenges”. So, I told her exactly what was going on. She was absolutely no help. Just told me that we need a parent/teacher conference so that WE understand THEIR expectations. What about OUR expectations? Completely dismissed what I said. We are a pro-teacher family. My son’s stepfather is an incredible educator within CCSD and was literally blown away by how they treated our son. The only time I heard back from our assistant principle was to tell me I would not be allowed to withdrawal my child from their school. Which was completely WRONG and thankfully we were able to get him out before they did anymore damage. We are not strangers to virtual school, or accelerated courses. My child is incredibly hardworking, has a strong support system at home and even works well independently. This school is a nightmare. Perhaps if he was given a chance to start on time with access to his courses, and an orientation.. he would have been able to adjust and adapt. However, he was robbed of that chance, was never able to catch up and was denied when he made the effort. So, my advice is to steer clear of NVLA. You’re better off at Odyssey, or if your child is going to high school, Nevada Connections is amazing."
