"I am a veteran receiving medical benefits from the VA. I walked in today for a necrotizing bone infection in my gum that needs evaluation by an oral surgeon, per my dentist. Community care refused my dentist’s referral, since he is not in network with the VA, and they said that I will need evaluation by the Phoenix VA dental care team After walking in for emergency services, due to persistent pain, swelling, and a literal bone protruding from my gum, I was refused service by the front desk staff member. This is inappropriate triage and can result in life-threatening pathology. I hope that this review ends up being the last of patients turned away for EMERGENT, LIFE-THREATENING dental intervention."
