I had to switch because she didn’t take my new insurance. As soon as I got my old insurance back, I went right back to her! She’s kind, compassionate and really shows that she cares. She takes your opinions and thoughts on different medications into consideration. My mental health is always at it’s best when I’m being treated by her. Also if you’re stable on your medication, she doesn’t require you to come in every month just to get the $$. She will let you skip a month or maybe even two and give you refills. "If you are reading this and are a patient who advocates for yourself, seek help elsewhere. Dr. Underwood prescribed me antidepressants & truncated me after 4 visits with no references and no way to titrate down off my medication, this was my experience. I went in to my 4th appt, ecstatic I found a psychiatrist who could work with my needs and health On this visit she wanted to prescribe medication I had previously taken and made me ill. when I informed her of this, that it wasn't a good fit and could we seek an alternate please, she started shuffling her papers irritably and commented "It works for all my other patients." I'm not your other patients. It was highly unprofessional of her to compare us. When I insisted that I wanted an alternative, she came at me with "I don't think we should continue our visits.” I needed her to sign off on disability paperwork as my psychiatrist and she refused to do so after this visit as well, which delayed my family from getting assistance benefits like groceries. I'm still unsure why she refused, since she was my psychiatrist and the only individual qualified to sign off, which felt like an abuse of power. My new psychiatrist was horrified this incident happened, the damage this could potentially cause is extremely serious. If you are the type of patient who wants to communicate with your doctor about what meds work or don't work for you, I am begging you; save your time, money and mental health. This woman caused us damage stress and steps back in my journey to heal."
