Henhouse Cafe

"We arrived about 10:45a on a Tuesday....color us surprised that it was immediate seating... we get so caught up in the Sunday post church drive by of a swarm of people lined up outside....which even if there is..always a good indication.... the food is worth the wait. Since it late morning we both opted for sandwiches over breakfast. That we found out mid-meal were both of server Katherine's favorites. I for the Chicken Avocado Sandwich sans tomato and my mom for the Pulled Pork. Or as she told Katherine "this is the best pulled pork I have ever had!!" I opted for a side of fries... I don't what their seasoning is but... so good!! My mom opted for the potato salad....being from the Midwest... this was not your yellow potato salad.. she sent it back and was given fries instead. The restaurant was pretty quiet, not loud echo from other tables....quite enjoyable. I like the big windows at Henhouse for natural light. The seating is comfortable; all regular height tables and booths. Note there are Specials on the north wall on a pull down brown paper "board". There was a Carnitas Burrito that Katherine listed all the ingredients to me, said they sold a lot of them but she'd never had one unlike the sandwich I was leaning towards. Then she said it was a favorite so I opted for it and she wasn't wrong. It was mostly that it was so much avocado and the correct juiciness for a chicken breast. I was intrigued by the neighboring mans meal that he said was Huevos Rancheros and it was perfectly hot. Thank you Henhouse for yet another delicious and satisfying meal!"

"This was my first time here. My waitress was Jess and she was outstanding. Very personable and customer oriented. She checked on us several times to make sure we were being accommodated and gave us good suggestions because it was our first time. We also found the receptionist to be quite personable and accommodating and we were offered several places to sit and could make our own choice. The food was excellent and came out hot and was presented nicely. Parking is more than adequate and we found the cleanliness of the restaurant to be great . We would highly recommend this restaurant and we feel that you would be fortunate to have Jess as your waitress. She is an asset to the restaurant and our compliments to the cooks!"

"Once you ask for your eggs cooked in butter, this place is perfect (otherwise they use soybean oil which is toxic). The potatoes are cooked in animal fats and are famazing! I need a Henhouse near me on the Westside!"

"I didn’t get the waitress’s name, but she had curly blonde hair and was so sweet! We went twice while we were in town and she was our waitress both times. We brought our grandma here with us and she took extra time with her to answer her questions and didn’t make her feel rushed. The food was great with generous portions, especially if you get any of the pancakes."

"Had an appointment nearby and decided to come here to this location on Guadalupe for the first time. The table service from Lexi was very good, she took our orders promptly and came back numerous times to check on us. The small stack of pancakes were huge on size and taste. The Mexican Benedict was great."
