"Bought a $7.39 pair of lockable tweezers to thread a leather lace through a leather baseball glove. First try the pair of metal tweezers broke. I hadn’t left the parking lot. Went inside and was told that there are no guarantees on tools there and that I could not have my money refunded or it replaced because according to the gentleman who sold it to me, who i told exactly what I was using it for, said there is no telling what I did to it to break it. This is exactly why Advance Auto Parts only has a 5% to 6% market share. Rather than eat a $7.39 tool, which their profit was maybe 30-50% on so let’s say cost was $4.00, tops, they instead tell me to kick rocks and let me walk out the door, while they stare at the broken tool I left sitting on their counter. I was planning on buying something even more expensive also. I even told the guy while I was buying it that I try to support local businesses and not shop at corporate giants. Still got told to stuff my 8 bucks. It’s not about the money. It’s the principle. You want to start cutting into your competitors profits? Be better and take care of your customers because I pass an Autozone, a Home Depot, a lowes and a harbor freight on the way to you."
