About the Business

Farragut State Park, located at 13550 Idaho 54 in Athol, Idaho, is a popular tourist attraction and park. Once a World War II-era naval training station, this 4,000-acre park offers camping opportunities with 223 individual sites, 10 camping cabins, and 7 group camps. The park is situated on the southern tip of Lake Pend Oreille in the Coeur d’Alene Mountains, providing stunning scenery and a wide range of recreational activities such as disc golf, fishing, hiking, biking, and equestrian facilities.
Visitors can also explore the park's rich World War II history at the Museum at the Brig, which is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day each year. The park's Visitor Center is open daily from 9am to 4pm during the winter months, and camping is available in the Gilmore campground until snowfall. While water is turned off on October 8, electricity remains available.
The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking public input for a grant proposal to construct a new campground at Farragut State Park. The proposed campground at Peterson will feature RV sites, tent pads, and small camper cabins, providing a new recreational opportunity for all Idaho recreational vehicle users with easy access to Highway 95.
For more information, visitors can contact the park at (208) 683-2425. Day-use locations within the park are open from 7am to 10pm, but hours may vary based on the park manager's discretion. "Farragut State Park is a great place to go for camping or hiking. Lots of trails with views of the lake. The day use area had large covered picnic areas with horse shoe pits and volley ball nets nearby. Lots of room for many people to gather together. There were swings for younger kids to play on too. Camping cabins were also real close to the day use area. The cabins appeared to be fairly new and well maintained. A note on the cabin said that the cabins has been cleaned after each use. Each cabin had its own fire pit and picnic table. The cabins also had electric lights and an air conditioner. No bathroom inside the cabin, but a bathroom facility was a short walk from the cabins. The only issue would be if someone had to get up during the night it would be a little walk in the dark. There were close trails near the day use area that were well maintained. Very beautiful spot."
"Went to play Disc golf at Farragut and ended up camping. The courses ranged from easy to hard and were a blast to play. The park was clean and we didn't have any issues with getting a spot or camping."
"I love Farragut State Park. There's so many trails and the water is beautiful. The mountains were very majestic looking with the different colors of green permanting in the sun."
"We arrived at this park a little after 10 pm we had booked on line, didn’t see anything telling me to check in at the front office the park is extremely large. When we were checking out the ranger ask who we were and if we had checked in, I stated I did, I did think I had to since I book & paid on line. He said even though we were checking out, we had to check in or we would get a ticket. I was disappointed he made us (used his position of authority) to go check in even though he took all our information saw that we were leaving. We find the front office which isn’t located in any of the camps site it’s its own section. With the shortage of workers in this country this park has plenty of employees to enforce rules that make no significant, when he already had written our information down visually saw and verbally spoke with us. I check in only to be told to have a great day see you soon, that took an extra 1/2 hour because of parking and waiting in line to report I was checking in and out at the same time. The park itself is big and nice, the toilets are at moments they do stink, they offer full hook-ups as well as tent sites. We chose not to use the toilets instead use our portable one the bathrooms were hit & miss. I guess when you allocate more money hiring people to signing in people then checking bathrooms you end up with unclean bathrooms. The lake is kind of hard to find I would say drive to it or ride your bike, lots of trails, the lake is absolutely beautiful. The park is very clean and quite and well maintained."
"Wow, so beautiful ❤️. The water of Lake Pend Oreille - pronounced "pond da ray", was so refreshing and crystal clear. We went swimming at Idlewild Bay. There is a "store", Cast, Blast, & Relax"- Food & snacks and they rent: bicycles, kayaks, paddle boards, & fishing gear! on the path down to the lake, before you get to the water. There are flush toilets and nice showers there, too. Plenty of parking. The park itself has a lot to offer: Gift shop, Disc Golf, Tree to Tree Adventure Park, Camping, Boat Launch for watercraft, horse trails, llama trails, hiking trails, mtn bicycle trails, Shooting range, museum at the Brig Jr. Ranger Station, Equestrian Campground, Model Aircraft Field(Insurance required), fishing, picnic sites, group camping, dump station. Winter Recreation :snow shoeing, Cross Country Skiing, fat tire biking. When you first check in to the campground office, there is a very informative visitor center, very interesting. Worth your time to check it out."
