"0 stars if I could give it. Been a long time customer, PAID OFF my credit card, then ended up with a $53 interest charge over a week after I paid it off…. Charging interest in “arrears” should be illegal. I would’ve been fine paying that at the time of payoff, but I guess they didn’t give that option. I called them and they said I should’ve called them before paying it off…why? Hate that they are taking over other credit card companies."

"No live chat. Lost access to my phone, and there is no way to access my accounts due to a two step verification I NEVER opted into, the only option given is for me to call, which is hilarious they offer that in a way, because in their mind if you're having an issue with your phone, you should call them... But did anyone in this big useless corporation ever think "how" if you can't access your phone? Idiotic system built for idiots by idots."

"I have been a customer for several years, I have excellent credit and pay history with Capital One. I called to see about reducing my 30% interest rate, as that is an absolute ridiculous rate. They said that my account is not eligible, and that they can not manually override it to give me a better rate. I will be closing this account and taking my business elsewhere."

"TL;DR: Capital One implicity supports fraudulent business practices to basically extort money, in my opinion. I made the drive from Alaska to Denver and had been using Expedia to book rooms advertised as being "pet friendly". I found calling hotels directly was resulting in higher prices and call centers that were keeping me on the phone trying to sell me things. I had a funeral to get to and did not appreciate the games. I'd booked a room and immediately called the hotel to request a first floor room because I had a kennel for my cat. That's when I was informed that they did not allow cats under any circumstances. I called Capital One immediately to stop the charge. I was informed they could not cancel the charge. Like, you're the card company, how can you not cancel the charge? I explained the circumstances, that I'd booked a room from a merchant who'd advertised an amenity that did not exist and booked solely BECAUSE it was offered. I was told I could dispute the charge, which I did. 6 weeks later, Capital One says the matter is closed and I am being charged for the room because the contract says "No Refunds". I would not have made the reservation to begin with if they had not advertised the hotel as being "pet friendly". They sold me something that did not exist. They say "You need to take it up with Expedia", which I've tried. There is NO customer service phone number or email address I can find. I'm shocked Capital One was able to contact somebody, but then, it's been six weeks. Online services are great, but they also allow these companies to hide behind that layer of anonymity which makes it easier for them to take advantage of consumers. Capital One has basically said to me, "We have dismissed your concern. A contract you signed that did not deliver what was promised is still binding because we are happy to take your money and remain in a business partnership with a merchant who engages in fraudulent practices. And if you DON'T pay us this fraudulently obtained money, we'll destroy your credit." So basically, extortion and fraud."

"Extremely disappointing recent situation with @capitalone that I believe their customers should hear about. I recently made five separate purchases on international metro passes in Germany. I chose to utilize my capital one quicksilver card due to their claim of not charging international fees. The city transit website used PayPal as a mode of accepting payment and so therefore I utilized my quicksilver card via pay pal to transact. I made those five purchases over the course of four days. I checked to ensure no fees were being charged on my card. On the fifth day I noticed a $10 "cash advance" fee had been added to each of the on average $7 purchases. My $35 transit purchases had now become $85. When I called calmly to clarify, the two agents I spoke with just read me the terms and conditions about cash advance purchases. They refused to refund ANY of the fees or a portion. I was extremely disappointed and feel very taken advantage of, especially since the fees were added days later and had I seen the first fee, I would've obviously stopped using the card. The transit company is not a peer to peer payment method. You need to redefine what you consider a cash advance and not penalize your loyal customers (I have two cards with capital one and over 5 years of on time payments with the firm). I am extremely disappointed with this level of service. As a business owner myself, there is always something you can do for your customers, and capital one completely failed me."
