"I've been to a lot of salons, both high end and low end; some well lit, some dark. Most of them had posters of hair models on the wall, featureless chairs and stations that were clones of one another, and a transactional vibe. I've gone back a few times to some, but all in all it's been difficult for me to find a salon that's talented enough to get me to come back, and warm enough that I develop a connection to the place. For the first time in my life I'm a loyal customer at a salon. Hairraiser is unlike any salon I've been to in terms of decor and I LOVE it. The owner, Alyssa, (who does my hair and is amazing) has put the coolest art on the walls, some of which she painted herself. There are plants and warmth and the people who work there seem to enjoy being there. Every time I've had a cut/color there people tell me how great I look but they can't put their finger on what I did (the stylists do a fantastic job at helping me find cuts that flatter my face and colors that go with my skin tone, so I look like I just naturally got better somehow). I have a sensitive scalp and they're so gentle when they work on my hair. From my very first cut/color, when the stylist made a custom low light/highlight palette for me that blew me over with how amazing the colors were on me, I knew I'd be coming back. I can't recommend this place enough, I tell everyone who asks that they should go there."
