"I'll start off by saying that I attended this place about 12 years ago. I was 8 years old. I had a brother, and two sisters without arms. We all rode together every Thursday I believe. I hope someone remembers me there still. Gideon Easley and mom is Susan Easley."
"My daughter attended Northland therapeutic riding center for approximately 3 years. Volunteers are nice people. For the first time in all these years she was recently bucked off a horse, when this happened she fell with the horse reins (which leads me to believe they were not put on properly in the first place) or she would not have had them in her hands when she was on the ground. I was contacted until the next day by an employee, when it happened, all they did was offer ice. It was extremely dissapointing to learn the hard way they follow no protocol for when riders are in accidents. I'm writing this review for any present or future parents of riders to take into consideration for the safety of their child, hopefully no parent or child is in our shoes again. And if so, I hope by then they take accidents with their riders more seriously and follow an actual protocol."
"Northland Therapeutic Riding ruined my horse. They called me up out of the blue and asked if I would lend them my horse for the program so I agreed, signed their waiver and they said if something happened to him, they would work with me. At some point his leg got jabbed with a sharp nail or something that was exposed and he’s no longer rideable. He’s lame and will never be able to be ridden again safely. A perfectly healthy 15-year-old paint named Murphy. After about three months, they convinced me to pay for a surgery for him. So they could continue to use him. After the surgery, they put him back into use in their classes then said he couldn’t be a part of the program anymore. Pure negligence on their part to have an exposed nail somewhere close to where an animal could get injured. I would NEVER recommend anyone letting this group care for your animal. The horses give them so much. But in the end, they don’t really care about my horses’ future. I have 15k in Murphy and all I asked was for them to reimburse me for the $3200 surgery I paid for so he could stay in their program and they even declined. Now I’m having to pursue legal action. Again, if you care about your animal DO NOT let this organization take control of them."
"Best hippo therapy in the Kansas City area. Staff are very nice and knowledgeable about horses. We learn riding skills and games, the time goes so fast I feel like I just got on and it's time to leave already. They have a horse show every November where we have a chance to show off what we learned over the year. They just got a grant to enclose the barn so now we are able to ride when it gets really hot or cold."
"This is an AWESOME organization. They provide equine therapy for my son and so many children. As you can see in the photo, THREE volunteers plus an instructor give their time each week so my son can ride. It's the only extra curricular activity he has ever enjoyed. The staff and volunteers are great with him and he has progressed so much. I cannot say enough good about Northland Therapeutic Riding Center. They deserve both praise and support."
