"My first visit and new patient experience was a 1 out of 5 stars experience. Here's the rundown of my journey 1. Called as a new patient to setup a simple physical 2. They said they need a first appointment for new patient intake 3. Showed up on-time, spent 30-minutes filling out paperwork 4. I was called back timely, nurse took my vitals, weight, blood pressure 5. Asked the nurse why they couldn't complete my physical in the same appointment, she said she wasn't sure, and said that they could... but asked if I had fasted... which I had not given what I was told previously... so it was deferred 6. Dr. Omondi came in, wasn't able to access my medical forms on the computer, then fumbled trying to understand my medical history, left the room, grabbed my physical paperwork, flipped through the pages, didn't really look at my responses, and said he would typically ask some specific questions, but then didn't 7. Told him I was surprised that I couldn't have had my physical in this same appointment, to which Dr. Omondi explained that if I would have fasted they could have done the lab work, but since I didn’t it may throw results off and we'll need to reschedule 8. Dr. Omondi then proceeds to say he'll be back with the lab kit and have them take my blood... to which I had to remind him he just told me that I'd have to reschedule the physical and lab test since I didn't fast... to which he was like "ah yeah, right"... 9. He tried taking my pulse with the stethoscope over my down vest... said he couldn't hear my heartbeat over my thick clothes... and then asked me to take my vest off... yes… 10. Once he was done explaining lab work next steps he just left the room... there was no "nice to meet you" - no "you're free to go" -- I had to ask if I was done when he was out of the room ... to which he said "oh yeah" as he walked away 11. The reception closing experience was equally confusing... they cancelled the physical appointment I had previously scheduled and said they would only do an appointment to review lab work as a next step 12. I had to request them to combine the physical and lab into one appointment, which took 2 separate back and forth exchanges with the doctor and reception person... and I had to be persistent about not wanting to keep coming back for a simple physical to make this happen… 13. Ultimately they conceded, said they would do the lab work and physical on the next appointment, but I left feeling highly unconfident, got home so confused and flabbergasted by my clinic experience that I decided to cancel my appointment and take the time to share my patient experience. All in all, this was one of the most impersonal and worst patient experiences I've had at a new clinic. A simple new patient intake, physical and lab test that could have been one appointment was a circus of confusion with different directives from everyone I spoke with and a proposed 3-visit plan from the clinic and doctor to get a simple physical done. I would not recommend this place to anyone. UPDATE: I received a call back from the Director of Operations at University Club Medical who took the time to carefully and empathetically listen to my patient experience, reflected back to me what he heard, reassured me that my experience was not their standard, and proposed a number of actions they would take to try to recover me as a patient and how they would use the feedback I shared to improve their overall patient experience in the future. Classy move that I appreciated."
