"Dr. Garrett is an excellent gyn-onc surgeon and was a compassionate oncologist when I was diagnosed with clear cell ovarian cancer in my thirties. Dr. Garrett did her best to prepare me for not just surgery (no one can really prepare you for a laparotomy), but also chemo and next steps. I felt safe with Dr. Garrett as the main driver of my care team."

"Dr Garrett was great: knowledgeable, competent, warm and caring. Communication with other personnel at the Center was extremely problematic, which led to some unnecessary worry and distress. Some examples: 1) Several times, before I obtained the extension numbers for the people I needed to speak to, I waited on hold for 10 minutes for the operator. 2) The scheduler sent me an outdated surgery guide with incorrect information in it, which contradicted some things Dr Garrett had told me. This was confusing. 3) The nurse, upon understanding that I was emotionally very upset by something, disparaged my concerns. As a management technique, this really isn’t very efficient, since it leaves the patient upset and likely to bother one again, and from the patient’s point of view, it’s distressing. Basically, it doesn’t solve the problem; it just makes the patient go away temporarily. 4) The first time I went to the Center, after I checked in I went to sit down in an area where the person at the desk didn’t want me to sit. She called to me in a very sharp, authoritarian voice. I have never been spoken to that way by anyone other than a police officer, or an official at a pain clinic, who both wanted to convey the impression that no funny business would be tolerated. It definitely didn’t set the right tone, Andi don’t think it was called for in that case. 5) I was told that I would be called with the results of a scan and some labs and nobody called. It took repeated calls for me to obtain the information. So, in the end what kind of score can I give Dr Garrett?: 5 stars. The Center: 1 or 2 stars. This averages out to: 3"
