Winston Apartments

"I moved here when I first moved to Portland and didn’t know the city well. I definitely wouldn’t move there again knowing what I know now. First reason being that the Max train is right next to the building so you have the screeching of the train every 15 minutes. Second being that I didn’t always safe—there was a taped off crime scene across the street once and multiple times I would come across random people sleeping in the stairwell. Ive also had friends who stayed there after I left who had difficulty with management fixing things. I guess that’s what you get for such cheap rent."

"The apartment manager, Tonja, is amazing! She runs both the Winston and commodore. The only reason we are missing a star is there is a bus stop right outside the building that drunks/drug addicts sit and smoke and drink in. Also the bus does its time reset with its exhaust imideatly outside my front window, when this happens I have to pause what I'm watching for 2-5 minutes. I wish trimet carred about the the excessive noise they generated!"

"The Winston was my first apartment and I really liked it. Can be noisey if ur one of the apartments near the bus shelter but it felt like home from the day I walked in to the day I left. Big windows and a window in the kitchen. I had very minimal maintenance issues. Close to a fresh Meyer and a corner store a block away. The max being so close was awesome. If u have a car this isn't the place for you though. When timbers season starts being ready to pay 3.50 an hour for street parking and having to park blocks from home on game days. Overall the Winston is a great place with some Amazing people living there. I knew ALL my neighbors and every one is very nice especially our buildings managers."

"I absolutely adore The Winston. It's such a charming little place, smack in the middle of downtown. For Goose Hollow, the rent is quite reasonable, the apartments are refurbished, and completely adorable. The maintenance folks are very responsive and the building manager, as of the time of this writing, is absolutely aces. About the only nit I can pick is that because the building was built in 1924, it behaves like a nearly century-old edifice, and every once in a while, the building will show one of her quirks. Otherwise, living in The Winston is a wonderful experience I would highly recommend to anyone."

"It was by far the worst living experience I've ever endured. For claiming to be an equal opportunity rental they will do all they can to squeeze money out of their tenants. Everything is constantly breaking, leaking, or burning out, and it taken weeks at some points for them to do anything. I had one of the maintenance men verbally pick a fight with one of my veteran friends, a person who has seen 3 tours, and then inform us that he had him banned from our building. By the end of it there was a breakout of bedbugs that management told no one about. Our apartment got infected, and they made us foot the bill to spray for them. I will not miss this place. It was a nightmare."
