"It was nice of the owner to have rented her home out to us when the hotels were full for the solar eclipse, but it was quite a high price. Fortunately, though, the manager talked her into giving us an extra night without added charge, because we weren't up to the trip back home quite yet. That brought the $/day down from gouging to just expensive. Oh, and that brings me to another key point; this Oregon resident does just as much to drive up prices as does any Californian.."

"I almost don't want to share the secret... Agate Beach Motel was among my favourite stops on the long drive home from Joshua Tree to Vancouver, BC. The location couldn't be better, perched just above a spectacular sandy beach but the place itself exceeded my expectations. The suite smelled fresh and clean, unlike some of my other (more expensive) coastal stops, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and everything you could possibly need was there. They even left towels and a bed for my dog! In the evening there was a beautiful fire pit with comfy chairs overlooking the ocean... I'd come back here in a heartbeat."

"My husband and I stayed here for one night and absolutely loved it. It's cute and charming. Nice private balcony and private access to the beach with a very solid staircase. Other closeby inns use the same beach but have different access points, and there were only a few people there. We were provided with a tide booklet, which was very helpful. Loved the ambiance of the fireplace and having fresh coffee for the morning. The only negative thing for me was the mattress was too hard for me and the pillow over stuffed. That's me, though. I prefer a softer mattress and thinner pillow. A suggestion I'd make since there were 4 pillows provided would be to have a couple that aren't as stuffed. My husband slept fine. Overall, it is a very cute place, an older motel that's has been remodeled while maintaining its surfer beach charm. I definitely recommend it!"

"My wife, son and I stayed here for a quick birthday getaway and really enjoyed this place. Location is great, just minutes from town but quiet and quaint. Our room was in good shape, very clean and comfortable with a bed room, small kitchen nook, and living room space. And all of the staff we interacted with was very friendly and welcoming. Plus it's just a 30 second walk down the steps to the beach!"
