About the Business
Located at 230 Liberty Street Northeast in Salem, Oregon, Ink Theory Tattoo School is a premier institution for aspiring tattoo artists. To be eligible for enrollment, students must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or GED. The application process includes submitting a portfolio of 10-15 strong works showcasing art skill, experience, and knowledge. Previous tattooing experience is not required.
At Ink Theory Tattoo School, our dedicated team of instructors is committed to equipping students with the tools and skills needed to thrive in the tattoo industry. Our curriculum goes beyond just obtaining a license; we focus on developing well-rounded artists who are proficient in business, marketing, and social skills. Our instructors, including Bexey, Molly, and Mike, bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the classroom, covering a range of tattooing styles and techniques.
Classes are held Monday-Thursday from 10am-3:30pm, with additional practicals on some Fridays. The program is designed to be completed in 5 months, but students may stay longer for additional training if needed. Upon graduation, students must pass the state exam for tattooing to obtain their license. Ink Theory Tattoo School partners with Alchemy Tattoo Collective, providing students with access to experienced artists for mentorship and learning opportunities.
In addition to our core program, we offer continuing education hours for licensed tattoo artists and Permanent Cosmetic Training for those looking to expand their skills. Transfer students from other licensed tattoo schools must meet the same admissions requirements and provide official transcripts for credit evaluation. Ink Theory Tattoo School also offers certification classes twice a year to keep licensed artists up to date on their credentials.
