McGarity's Restaurant & Saloon Jefferson

"The food and service were AMAZING! We started off with the fried spicy cheese curds as our appetizer. We were all extremely impressed with the flavor and the quantity of the cheese curds. We split the appetizer amongst 3 adults and struggled to finish all of the cheese curds. I then got their burger because I was overwhelmed with all the delicious options, and I have to say that was the best burger I've ever had! My parents both got the Reuben, and I know that they really enjoyed their meals as well. There was also live music which added nicely to the atmosphere. It wasn't too loud and still managed to gracefully carry all the way throughout the restaurant. My daughter was very entertained with the music and was dancing the whole time. We definitely plan to come back. So far, it's my favorite restaurant in Jefferson!"

"I am always excited to find a restaurant with a good beer list. I had an amazing Belgian Tripel and a really good Reuben. The live music was fun and not too loud which was a huge plus as we had a baby with us. The musician was really entertaining and did a great job. We will definitely be going back. The spicy cheese curds were amazing."

"Was recommended to try this place. Unfortunately food was cold and calamari was over cooked on outside and under cooked on inside. But everyone else that we met who ate there said it was great. Maybe they had an off night. Staff was great. Our waitress was new and very pleasant!"

"My wife and I spent the weekend in Jefferson and chose this restaurant for our first night dining. The food was so good we went back the 2nd night. All the staff were so friendly and we met the chef, Jonathan. OMG ask for his personal Blue Cheese dressing on a Wedge, it’s awesome. Our second night we had the Blackened Redfish. We live in Houston and have great seafood restaurants to choose from, but we will drive to Jefferson Tx to eat Jonathan’s Redfish dinner because it’s better then anything we have had in Houston."

"Move on by McGarity’s Saloon While in Jefferson during the middle of the week, we visited all of downtown and decided to stick around and have lunch. The reviews seemed good for this place, so, we decided to give it a try. We arrived shortly after noon and there were quite a few people in the restaurant. However, there were a couple of two-tops and two four-top tables available. Seating at the bar was empty. There was one couple already in the restaurant waiting to be seated. A server from behind the bar area acknowledged us an told us it would be just a moment to be seated. We waited, along with the other couple for ten or fifteen minutes with the vacant tables still available with no further contact by any of the staff. The first couple decided to leave. We waited another ten to fifteen minutes before someone finally decided to come out to us and seat us. Our server assigned to our table took our orders - chicken fried steak dinner and hamburger with fries dinner - fairly quickly and then brought us a small basked of chips. I also ordered a side salad, which was brought out quickly and was fresh and tasty. However, it went downhill from there. We waited forever for them to bring our main entrees. When they finally arrived, the only thing that was hot and tasty was the mashed potatoes on my plate. The chicken fried steak was pretty hot, although it had been nearly burnt to a crisp. The meat was tasteless, and the batter had a burnt taste. The hamburger was cold and tasteless. The bun was dry and very hard. The onion rings were basically room temperature and were just OK. Maybe they were just having a bad day, but, overall, it definitely was not what we expected and definitely worth the price paid."
