As one of the nation's oldest rural garden cemeteries, it offers a unique cultural, botanical, and educational experience for visitors. With over 3,000 trees and 165 specimens of native Midwestern woody plants spread across 200 acres of rolling hills, the Arboretum is a peaceful and serene place for reflection and remembrance.
In the coming months, Woodland Cemetery will undergo enhancements, including the construction of new walkways and an entry road. As a result, the main entrance may be intermittently closed, and visitors are asked to use the alternative entrance located off Waldo Street. These upgrades aim to create a more welcoming and accessible environment for all who come to pay their respects and remember their loved ones.

"Wow, this place was beyond amazing. Stopped to view the Wright Bros gravesite but was taken aback by how stunning the cemetery grounds were as well as the mausoleum. The grounds are hilly with a spectacular view of Dayton. There are many huge vaults that are ornate. The mausoleum was interesting with all of people's ashes with pictures and such. A visit here really make you think about your mortality."
"This is one of my favorite cemeteries to visit. Its so well kept. There are lots of interesting folks laid to rest here. The yard is massive and contains some of the most unique and amazing stones. Theres a guided tour that leads you to several well known locals. The Wright Brothers are buried here! Thats without a doubt, cool beyond words. However, with that being said, you would think their graves would be immaculate and ordained with so much art and relief in the stone work. Its not. It has some raggedy plants on the tomb, the brickwork is shoddy, its a mess. This grave should be an attraction. Statues, epitaphs, everything. It really should celebrate what they did for the world. Other than that, this place is top shelf. Take a look for yourself."
