Saint Lucas Lutheran School

"We have found St. Lucas School to be mediocre, at best. There is a great deal of teacher- turnover at the school and the teachers tend to be young, and unprepared. The atmosphere at the school is not what we would call all that "Christian", despite it being called a Christian school. There is a lot of gossip, in - fighting among staff. The school would barely exist were it not for the Choice Program. As far as their test scores go: well, they are not accurate because only a small percentage of the students take the tests! They have their best students take the MAP test, for example, but not all the students in each grade level take the test!!! And, they only show the test scores of their K-2nd grade on their website! They have to be kidding! Whereas the public school system has to test ALL students and show the test scores of ALL the students of ALL grade levels, St. Lucas only tests their best students in each grade level. This sort of dishonesty is RAMPANT at the school as the staff, really, are very poor: teacher salaries are so incredibly low that they simply cannot retain high quality teachers. There is little enthusiasm among staff. Our child was ignored by his teacher . We even observed her during recess: the teachers ignored the kids on the playground and just talked among themselves. Sorry - but this is NOT what we consider high - quality Christian education."

We also love that the overall environment is caring and nurturing to our kids on a personal level. The love and expectations I have for my children is seamlessly carried over into their school day. It is nice to feel supported in raising good kids."
