"Had a friend treated at Mad River Hospital. The nurses on the medical surgical Ward were so kind and caring. Special thanks to Dr Abbassi, who saved his life by rapidly recognizing and correctly diagnosing my friends neurosurgical emergency"

"Arrived late evening on January 4, 2024 from Ohio with a sinus infection. Went to their urgent care office and I was very impressed with the quality of care of the staff and attending doctor. I was in and out ion 2 hours and felt much better the next day. I highly recommend MAD RIVER COMMUNITY HOSPITAL"

"Worst experience of my life. I came in with a blood pressure that was up and down and had a heart rate of over 130 for six hours and severe chest pain that was slowly getting worse. They treated me like a drug addict for my PRESCRIPTION medicine, told me I’m probably just having a panic attack and discharged me while still in pain. They asked me my family history, so I told them about my fathers heart condition that killed him and then he used that to say that’s probably why I’m having a panic attack despite me saying over and over (and my husband also saying) I don’t have anxiety and never have. The Dr didn’t even tell me this. The nurse was the one who dealt with me. I asked how long should I wait for the pain to stop and they just said they didn’t know. My “discharge instructions” said a list of local places for every kind of speciality and that’s it."

"Went here twice for gallbladder pain, both times was told it wasn't my gallbladder, that it was my responsibility to find a primary care doctor instead of bothering ER staff (newer to the area so I'm still on waiting lists for a regular doctor), and finally the doctor told me "stomach pain is not an emergency" and that I should just go home. Ended up going to St. Joe's where they had to take my gallbladder out in emergency surgery the same day because it had no functionality and was a massive infection risk. The bills they sent me at Mad River were twice as much as what I paid at St. Joe's just to be told I was wasting their time. The nurses were nice enough but the doctor working here is incompetent, heartless, and should not be working in a hospital. If you're having an emergency, time is of the essence so don't waste any of yours here."

"I would give NO stars if I could. My experience with Mad River’s Emergency room was truly a traumatic experience. They would not communicate with my family about anything, leaving them completely in the dark, they refused to let people visit me, and lied to me about the visitation rules (There are none because you can't have visitors apparently; I was informed that visiting hours were later in the day). They withheld gifts that were brought in by my loved ones and put them in the lost and found (it took my brother 30 minutes to HELP the woman running the front desk because she had misplaced it). Lastly, they refused to use my preferred name. I understand that hospitals need my legal name for paperwork and such, but when addressing me, even after being corrected, they refuse to call me by my preferred name which was incredibly disrespectful!!! This hospital made me wish I didn’t make it because my experience there was truly horrible. If you have time, please make the trip to the hospital in Eureka or anywhere else."
