About the Business

Torrey Pines State Beach

Torrey Pines State Beach, located at 12600 North Torrey Pines Road in California, is a popular park and tourist attraction offering a wide sandy beach, perfect for swimming, surfing, and fishing. The beach stretches for 4 1/2 miles from Del Mar to Torrey Pines Mesa, with red-hued bluffs and wet sand making it ideal for strolling at low tide. Visitors can enjoy picnicking in the designated area near the entrance on North Torrey Pines Road, or access the beach via a trail from the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve.

To ensure safety, visitors are advised to time their beach visit for low tide when more sand is available between the cliffs and the waves. Rockslides and cliff collapses can occur without warning, so it's important to keep a minimum distance of 10 feet from the bluffs. Dogs are prohibited within the reserve and beach boundaries.

Parking can be a challenge, especially during peak hours between 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. If the South Beach lot is full, visitors can head to the North Beach lot for parking. General admission day use fees range from $10-$25 per vehicle, or visitors can use a valid annual California State Parks Vehicle Day Use Pass.

Annual passes are sold at the entrance kiosk station operated by LAZ Parking, which is open from 8:00 AM to approximately a half-hour before sunset every day of the year. Camping is not permitted at Torrey Pines, and wood fires are prohibited on the beach.

Overall, Torrey Pines State Beach offers a beautiful coastal experience with a range of recreational activities for visitors to enjoy.

"Pines for the right reason. This hike was breathtaking and was so beautiful. I did the most easiest trail walk and it has some good views of the sand and sea.We did met a guide and she was so good at her work in educating travelers about the place. You can actually take guided tours. Must go place for some breath taking views."

"A nice place for sunset and do some family hikes. Most of the trails are not shaded, recommended to hike early morning. Restroom is at the trailhead by the parking. Parking is $10 in the parking lot, and free parking on the street"

"I absolutely love this beach! From dolphins to the occasional seal, this beach has everything you would want. Parking is plentiful especially if you get there early. The state park has lots of parking on both side of the highway as well. It's a beautiful place to watch the sunset and swim or surf. If you walk south along the ocean, you will eventually come to Blacks Beach. It's a beautiful beach hike. If you like rocks, there are a variety of rocks, that get washed up every day."

"Wow... Just wow. Every turn you're hit with a jaw dropping view. We parked our car just before the north beach parking lot and got one of the few coveted free parking spots near the beach. Highly recommend visiting on a weekday and getting there a bit early if you want to avoid paying the 20$ parking fee. The hike itself is very easy... With a gradual gradient. There are plenty of trails branching off from the main road that take you to some of the most beautiful overlooks I've seen. Really loved the hike that took us to Red Butte... Yucca Point and the beach. We hiked on a super cloudy day but it still it did get quite warm during some parts of the hike. So I recommend carrying plenty of water and making sure you're hydrated. And slather on a generous amount of sun screen as well... Even if it's cloudy. Because you will be exposed to all the elements throughout the hike."

"One of San Diego's best beaches to catch a sunset. The beach is also perfect for a walk. You can walk on the beach south all the way to La Jolla shores or north up to Del Mar Beach. Parking is right on the beach if you're lucky. Although, motorcycle parking near the reserve entrance is always available. Gets a little crowded, but well worth the views."
