Ocean Echo Inn & Beach Cottages

"Beware of shady tactics, they will steal your money. I got sent to collections for $400. Long story, I have been staying here with my family since I was little and Sunny Cove has become an important place for us. Last year I decided I wanted to propose to my fiance on this same beach and booked a reservation on Thursday for the following weekend. Turns out I accidentally booked for the following Friday night. I spoke with the gentleman at the hotel and he informed us that his manager would be in in the morning and that we'd be able to work something out to move the dates. The next morning comes and the manager tells us to get lost and that they wouldn't do anything to help us and cancelled our reservation. So I charged back my card. Instead of working with us they went silent for a year and I received a collections letter in the mail for nearly double the original amount. What was supposed to be a special and memorable moment has turned into a financial nightmare. We would have continued to stay here several more times despite the price to service/amenities ratio. Beware of the owner. She is rude and will not accommodate you. She will choose one night of pay over giving you a memorable experience that would lead to several more stays. It's bad business."

"Parking can be a bit tight depending on which room you're staying in. We stayed in one of the pet-friendly rooms (#15). We were initially surprised by how small it was - still, it was cozy and well-appointed. Having a kitchen was a plus for our two dogs who are not patio dogs. The jetted tub was an extra plus. We did notice the next morning that the toilet had been running all night (we thought it was someone showering lol) so that kind of ruined the ocean sounds. Otherwise, a really cute & simple place to stay for a weekend in Santa Cruz."

"The owner of this hotel charged my card $350 for a room that was canceled because of the tides/ weather/ advisory to stay away from the coast. Many attempts were made to reason with him as two employees assured us that we would get a full refund due to the weather. Beware of hidden fees as well- they charged my card an additional $120 pet fee when I cancelled my stay. Bad business."

"We love the Ocean Echo! The view from the upper deck is awesome and falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing at The Cove is my dream Santa Cruz experience. Our room was clean and tidy - and the kitchenette is ideal for a longer stay."

"My family enjoyed our stay here. Cottage was perfect. It was clean, cute and gave us some privacy when needed. The inn was hidden and had direct access to a beach however there was water that blocked access to the main beach so we had to go to either side of bluff to get access. Our terrace had a view of ocean and we could hear the waves. The only somewhat downside of place was that parking was tricky because spaces were tight. Definitely worth the price and we would stay there again in the future."
