"This place was once charming and is now ridiculous! When we got there no one in office and had to call a number to have the housekeeper drop off a key. Never had anyone in office and no evening or morning food as promised on website. The room was lopsided and the bed was on a tilt. The shower was non functional so had to wash using the tub head. Do not go here as it has premium prices with less than motel 6 accommodations."

"We had a pleasant stay. The inn is right off of a main road to downtown. The walk from here to downtown is about 15 min. The rooms have a ton of windows pointing inwards to the brook and a greenery area. Our room had a skylight, which was nice until morning. You can see into your neighbors rooms from certain areas. The tub was nothing special, and we couldn't figure out how to turn ours on, or it was broken. It was very big though. Fit both me and my wife comfortably. The rooms walls were a little thin and we could hear the road all night, and our neighbors. We could also hear the brook so... There was no AC or cooler, but Santa Cruz doesn't usually need it. They did have a couple fans in the closet if you needed it. Last it was contactless check-in. We did need to contact them and it was easy and they were super helpful getting us what we needed."

"The ambiance before you get into your room is great, but this is definitely not a 3 star hotel. The room photos on the website are very deceptive. I got a very large, dimly lit, and sparsely furnished room with a pretty old and stained carpet. The bathroom looked like it was updated more recently and was pretty clean. Of all the other 3 star hotels I looked at this one was the cheapest (I guess for a reason). The room comes with a small tv (that’s far from the bed), and a little keurig if you want coffee in the morning. They don’t offer breakfast or have a fridge in the room to store food (which would have been nice). This worked fine for me because I just needed a place to sleep, but it was a let down to what I was expecting. *I do want to edit to say that the cleaning ladies were very nice and were able to find my phone charger that I had forgotten. For them I upped the service to 4 stars"

"I have visited the Babbling Brook Inn twice; once before COVID, once after and the shift isn't for the better. The first time I went with my partner, we had a beautiful suite, we were greeted at the door with fresh chocolate chip cookies as we were checked into our room, they had wonderful breakfast options and coffee in the morning. This last time I went, there was no one at the front desk despite their listed hours being until 10pm for late arrivals. We called the number attached to the front door several times to no success and we were lucky enough to catch an employee as they were leaving who contacted the manager and sent someone to check us in, apparently they lost our reservation, which was made through their website, they said it had been cancelled and refunded. It may have been cancelled but the $700 for two nights stay wasn't refunded. Our suite had no art at all and for a space the denotes their rooms based on the art within them, this was frustrating. Mismatched furniture was minimal, uncomfortable and the room quite larger than the one we had before. There was no WiFi password in the room and during our stay I saw no one attending the front desk. Ambiance is nice, but the water wheel wasn't working, the photos online are all pre-COVID, it just wasn't the experience that is advertised online and certainly not the expectations I had after my prior visit. Whomever is managing this establishment is phoning it in on the reputation it once had and doing little to manage it. My anniversary accomodations were disappointing and no one was around to care about my grievance or offer to make amends. I would have saved money getting a motel and I would have had twice the amenities."

"I booked a very specific room to celebrate my sisters 18th birthday MONTHS before our stay in a a room with a BALCONY directly on the hotel website NOT third party!!. Upon arrival we had been given our keys to the room and noticed it was the a room we specifically DID NOT want to book and did not have a balcony and was her least favorite of the room options. I went back to the lady at the desk and she said the room we booked has been occupied for the past week???? Complete lie and makes no sense. Since our stay was for only one night, my theory is the desk intentionally transferred us to a lower price room since it is a shorter stay, or the people noticed the booking for the room on that date was booked and called and begged the desk to move me and my sister! Although yes, this inn is very beautiful, there is a high chance they will move you to a different room and gaslight and lie to you into staying in a different room to make more money off of longer staying people. From other reviews I have read this seems to be a common occurrence here. If this happens to you guys, you need to question them and put pressure for answers because these rooms too expensive for that kind of backhanded business type cr*P."
