"Happy Land daycare is not just a business, they truly care for the kids like family. Every day the wonderful teachers are prepared early morning for the children to have an amazing day, with a good balance of circle time, independent play, and outside activities. I was very nervous about trusting someone else with our daughter, but she LOVES going to Happy Land. Her language and social skills have developed so much. They say parents need a village to support their family, well Happy Land is part of our village and we appreciate them so much!"

"It saddens to me to write this review, but I must since we've experienced unprofessionalism. Happy Land Child Care has only been open for a few months. It's very promising. My infant (9 months at the time) was enrolled and everything was fine. My child in her care was doing good until the last week he was there. During his last week, my boy fell and got bruised underneath his eye. Her reasoning is that he fell suddenly and quickly fell on a toy. The area is supposed to be safe, away from items that hurt him and with 3 adults watching over him, maybe it could have been prevented. However, I understood that those things would happen as he is learning how to walk. Unfortunately, instead of taking responsibility for his accident while under her care, she placed the responsibility on my son by saying he just"very active". Also proceeded to advice me to be careful at home, but thanks, my house is extremely child proof (first time mom). Anyways, I brushed it off, again, things like this are expected to happen. The next day as I prepared my baby's bag, I saw that his sippy cup was there with juice from the day before. His sippy usually stays at the daycare since he uses it everyday. It was odd but I proceeded to wash so I can send it back. To my extreme surprise and horror, I found mold underneath the lid! I was horrified, it wasn't a little mold, I scraped off a chunk of it. It looked like its been there for a while and who knows how long he has been ingesting liquid while exposed to mold. Of course, this is not okay, it can be toxic and dangerous. Children exposed to mold experience symptoms such as a runny nose (which he has been experiencing) and other breathing related problems. I brought it to her attention via text because at the moment I was too upset to talk. As my husband dropped off my son with a new cup, they talked about it. Keep in mind, we never questioned he cleaningness of her kitchen but she proceeded to show my husband how clean her kitchen was and swore they washed the cups daily. She showed him the cupboard where the other kids sippy cup were and my daring husband opened one of the sippy cups and there was mold on that cup too! Her defense? Kid only comes in twice a week, but what does that have to with mold growing in his/her sippy cup? My husband opened another cup from a child that shows up daily, and there was a bit of mold there too. Extremely dangerous for small children. I did not make the decision to remove my child from her care even after all of this. Ericka, the owner, decided that she couldn't care for my son because we, as parents, questioned his safety. Of course we did, the fact that he fell and has a black eye wasn't even the issue, it was the ingestion of mold that can lead to asthma or other serious problems. If I didn't say anything, my child would still be in this day care and him, along with the other kids would be drinking from a cup with mold right now. I wish she would have accepted, corrected, and moved on from all these incidents. Instead, she decided to take things personal and proceed to let us know she will no longer accept my child in her care. Its extremely unprofessional that she took things personally but its her daycare and if my son is not welcomed there because we called her out on such an important issue, then so be it. I am a teacher and I deal with difficult parents all the time, I don’t kicked students out because their parents are a challenge. I hope you learn to better deal with concerning parents. One last thing: Ericka, I am sure the cups are washed everyday, make sure you dry them well before closing the lid so that mold doesn’t grow on them (mold grows on things that stay wet and unable to dry). Current and future parents, make sure you check the sippy cups every once in a while."
