Sheraton Memphis Downtown Hotel

"The service throughout the stay was reprehensible to say less. To contact the front desks from our room required 3-4 rounds of repeat calling before answering. The food was intolerable, overpriced and service was unreasonable. We waited 45 minutes before receiving our order which was wrong and had to be returned, seriously, there was only 3 booths occupied. The entire lobby flooded with 2-3 inches of water that met us in the dining room. We could not access the elevators and the escalators stopped working. Just when you thought this too will pass, I was bitten by a BED BUG! I reported the incident to the front desk but due to lack of command of the English language nothing was done. It wasn't until I complained the following day and a service tech responded, identified the bagged bug, and was able to relocate us to another room. Upon following up, the supervising staff was not made aware of the event. Staff did not make a formal report. The room was not compensated to say the least. In fact we were told that the supervisor was not available and/or on duty for 3 days. Security supervisor stated that he needed to make a report in writing and that he would get back to us to which this never happened. As well, there has been no follow through regarding the same to which I find to be insulting."

"The hotel looks and it’s indeed very tired and urgently needing a reformation. The bathtub doesn’t invite you to come in, looking like being part of the II world war. The carpets have been used too much without a little bit of care and wash. I have to say that the beds and pillows are very comfortable to give a nice rest during the night. I don’t think the hotel is worth for the money you pay."

"ORIGINAL POST 2-11-2024: First I should say I had a problem with my reservation, callled prior to arriving, and the person who answered the phone was very helpful. I was looking forward to our visit, however, since we arrived the situation has deteriorated. This hotel is extremely tired and in need of renovation. The rooms are "sort of" clean. The service is the level of a budget hotel, not a full-service property. We asked for 2 additional pillows. Nothing. Two hours later we asked again. Nothing. Almost three hours later I went to the front desk to be told they have no extra pillows and are completely sold out. I had to go to the front desk because when we called the front desk both times, no one answered after 10+ rings. I've stayed in hotels all over the world and this hotel IS NOT sold out. They are drastically understaffed, untrained, and apathetic to customer needs. Sheraton used to be a reliable brand. Apparently Marriott has ruined it. The next 4 nights do not look promising. UPDATE 2-15-2024: Our stay never improved. In the 5 days we've been here our room was never cleaned. We requested housekeeping three times. Nothing. We finally had to steal clean towels off a cart and leave the trash in the hallway. Our accessible room has a bed with no frame. Just a mattress and box spring in the floor. You can see the Managers response to our first post but there was no effort to reach out to us even though the post clearly stated we are staying here. We are here for a conference and many members have similar, or worse, stories. My recommendation is that there are MANY better choices for your stay in downtown Memphis. Avoid this place."

"This hotel is so old and dirty. Attended a dance conference and I had to wipe down here’s how dirty it was. The sheets and blanket had blood on them. I had to go downstairs twice to try and get housekeeping to come change the bedding. It’s a whole entire nightmare. I had to provide an update and edit the comment to ensure it was noted that after the day manager Mary, was notified, the room received a full clean, and each day after, housekeeping was on the ball. Still there are updated needed to the hotel such as paining of the common areas, and updating to the elevators, as there were several conference groups at the hotel at once, with only two of the four elevators working, much made a delay. But overall, things did improve."
