"Sometimes experience pays off and this is one of those times. I took my older car to another smog outlet here in Auburn and it failed the smog test. The company said they couldn't fix the problem. $100 down the drain. I scheduled my appt. with Sierra Smog and Steve informed me I'd pay a diagnostics fee so they can determine the problem. He also said there'd be parts and labor if something needed fixing but he would request permission for the added cost beforehand. Then roughly $100 for the smog check. In the end, Steve called me to tell me my car was ready. He was able to spot the problem without needing to run diagnostics, so he didn't charge me for that. He fixed the problem, the car passed the smog check and my total cost was for the smog check only. Now when I need smog certification, I will only take my car to Sierra Smog!"
