English Ales is a beloved bar located at 111 Capitola Avenue in Capitola, California. Established in 2000, we take pride in brewing 12 authentic hand-crafted English Ales using traditional ingredients from England. From Goldens to Stouts, we have something for every beer lover.
Our bar offers a welcoming atmosphere for families of all ages to relax and unwind. Whether you're looking for a delicious meal or a sunny spot to enjoy your drink, English Ales is the perfect place for you.
While our main location is in Marina, CA, we were excited to open our first Taproom in Capitola in 2020. Join our Mug Club for exclusive benefits and enjoy your favorite brew with us.
At English Ales, we are committed to supporting our local community, whether through partnerships with organizations like 'ALL IN Monterey County' or our local animal shelter. We also offer party options and even a mobile beer truck for your events.

"We came across this marvelous pub while on our way to a wine walk, and put it this way, we didn't make it to the wine walk! "Proper English Bitter served here. Try the Corkscrew Ale. (I don't think that's a very marketable name for such a good beer.) If you haven't tried a bitter before think IPA minus the hops. Good seating options inside and out, grab a bag of crisps and enjoy with a mate!"
"5-Stars for absolutely delicious ales!! Their selection is phenomenal. We had a 10 beer flight to try a variety and it was fabulous. The food is not the best but decent. Their ambiance and beers make up for it!! Great service too, thank you Naomi!"
